I have shot .22 in the past but almost everyone shoots .177. Flat shooting, Large selection of pellets, pellets are cheaper, accurate, and enough power to knock down animals. Of course if you need more options there is also .20 cal but less of a pellet selection.

What class are you going to shoot??
AA TX200 will allow you to shoot two classes if want to shoot a springer.

Well Scott, like almost anything the answer is ,it depends. Kevin asked the right question. If you want to use the rifle for some other stuff that will influence your decision. There are lots of old posts on this subject. Popular/good spring guns are the TX that kevin mentioned plus the R-9, HW-77, HW-97, ProSport, Walther LGU and the break barrel model too plus the Diana guns seem to be gaining some popularity lately. PCP guns, you have many many choices from the Marauder on up. 10 meter guns again are very numerous. They can be almost any power plant and can be shot in open and target class.
If you want to also shoot 10 meter bullseye or field target then that will narrow your options.
If you can, go to a match and see what the guys are using. Most times they will let you try their stuff.

Canon82: You will want to use .177 caliber air rifle. There are many choices in pellet weights to choose from.
You can use a TX200 for sporter and open class. You can use a 10 meter rifle for target and open class.
Even though a FWB 300 uses a spring, it can be used in Target and Open class but not in sporter class.
