I have an Anschutz 1903. Don't really like prone shooting- thinking of turning into a silhouette rifle- what's my best option?
Look for a Anschutz Sil stock?
Sell and start over?
Cut down barrel or re-barrel and re-stock?
Not looking for top of the line- an happy with CZ type rifles. Want to make best use of this rifle- have a good action and trigger.
thanks
chuck

Chuck,
Nice rifle.
There are certainly going to be more knowledgeable people than me respond, but I'll get the ball rolling.
If you leave the current trigger and barrel on the action, it will only qualify as a Smallbore Silhouette Rifle. Hunter must have a tapered barrel and the trigger can be no lighter than 2 pounds.
If that's not a problem (it just qualifying for only 1 category) go for it!
AT my local matches, I'd let you shoot in both matches, but only qualify for NRA scores and prizes in the Smallbore match.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I had the some "problem" with my 1403. I was able to get a silhouette stock. But it might be easier to just buy a 64 silhouette version.

I would restock it and use. but you will have to have a second rifle for the hunter rifle class. you will have to hunt for a stock, but I have seen them on the net. setup a hunter rifle and shoot both matches with it while you are re-building the rifle.
