Happy Saturday everybody.

I need to source animals for the Tacoma Rifle and Revolver club to start having twice a month small bore matches (starting in Dec if all goes well!).

We're going to have 16 shooting positions for 40 shot matches so looking for the best price/quality combo in order to get things rolling.

Anyone have a good referal? Much obliged!

Are they pretty durable? I don't know much about metalurgy but since it does on occasion get pretty cold up here I wonder if the casting material gets brittle.

Those animals from ncsilhouette I believe are very similar to the ones used at Machias. Jason might be able to confirm that but I remember the cast targets being pretty resilient.

Everyone,
Thanks for mentioning my animal targets!
These are ductile cast iron, not the same metal as plain, grey cast iron like your skillet at home.
They have more additives and a micro crystalline structure that allow them to "give" under the bullet impacts.

Anyway, they are the one-piece, cast animals used throughout the country!

Let me know if you are interested in purchasing some for the Tacoma club.

Greg Chandler's targets are all we use at our match. Considered to be the standard for smallbore targets.

Thanks Greg. I'll be reaching out to you in the next couple days as we're going to need enough for 16 shooting positions (4 per animal) and spares.

+1 We ordered some replacement/back up animals from Greg last year. Nice pricing along with fast delivery here the north country. We have shot Greg's animals in 13F with wind chill -10.........The coldest ever.....I think... and the animals held up.......the one's we were able to hit............2 years ago during our annual "Frosty Iron" We had 3 shooters that participated in their deer hunting gear. I don't have hunting gear, let alone the proper insulated boots in those temps. I sat in the car during their 40 rounds. =)) All I know is, none were broken from tossing them into the carts, when it was all done.
