Dumb question..I have a ruger 10/22 with a factory stock with the barrel channel enlarged. I have a kidd ultralight barrel .870. As long as I adjust the weight Will this gun qualify for Hunter rifle class with this barrel
Thx siloet56... also it has a new ruger trigger in it.. can this trigger be adjusted to at least 2 lbs

As long as the barrel is tapered, the trigger breaks at 2 pounds and the rifle weights 8 1/2 pounds you are good

To clarify Dan's statement... "trigger breaks 2 pounds or more and the rifle weighs 8 1/2 pounds or less".

I don't know how much adjustment is available in the new Ruger trigger, but I thought they came factory set around 2.5 pounds.

Most likely your local club/match won't care too much about anything that is a little out of spec, but if you go to a state, regional, or national match you'll have to have your gear up to snuff.

I started with a mostly-stock 10/22 and used it for my first 5 months or so, but I recently upgraded to a CZ-452.

You misplaced the decimal point - should read 25.0 pounds. Ruger factory triggers are seriously heavy.

I believe that the Kidd .870" ultralight barrel does not taper, so it would not qualify for hunter rifle even if all other requirements are met. See link below to confirm that this is the barrel you are referring to.

But Kidd does make a tapered barrel - just pick a different (stainless) one.

No, the new Ruger trigger the OP is asking about is the BX-Trigger. The website states that it's factory set at approximately 2.75 pounds.

The taper barrel rule is preventing my model 64 anschutz from shooting in hunter class as well. Don't know why the rule is still in there.

siloet56, The July 2015 Rifle magazine had a decent article in it about Ruger triggers, some replacement parts/triggers and the new Ruger BX trigger. If you can find a copy, it's informational. Can't remember for sure, but I don't think the BX trigger in the article would go as low as 2 #'s.

Maybe and maybe not on the 'new' Ruger trigger; a factory 10/22 trigger can be honed to nearly 2# and all the grunch taken out. I worked mine over in my rabbit gun then got talked out of it and went to a bolt gun. The new owner had other issues not related to trigger and Ruger advised him to send it in. It came back w/o the reworked trigger and was back to heavy & gritty. No I didnt spent the time to modify it for him. I do have a new factory 10/22 trigger that got replaced with a KID unit--$35 and I'll send it to you. RJ

True, but the 1" barrel with a 0.99" crown is still legal cuz it has a taper.

If the new full bore Ruger has the BX-Trigger, it ain't bad. I shot one on the bolt gun that looks like an AR and I am thinking that is is in the range of 3 lbs. That little trip lever makes it feel almost like a 2 stage. I got a 1 inch 3 shot group at 200 meters with it.

The "BX-Trigger" is only a replacement for the 10/22 (and Chargers) and not used in their other rifles.
