Total PITA. We went to Austin not Dallas, but it might as well have been. I am trying to get the board's permission to have it at Pearland Sportsman Club (PSC) about 3 miles from my house. I have 2 yes votes in and it looks like we might pull this off, but it is NOT final yet. PSC is in Friendswood Texas. If you go south in I45 exit Nasa Road1/FM528 and go west for about 10 miles it is just after the big assed water tower that says........."Friendswood" on the south side of the road. It has a gate, and we will need a code for the match. I am working on getting things worked out. I have a good relationship with the people at the range. It is smaller than BRI but has plenty of space. I don't get pm's from this site but if you email me jpsteiger (at) earthlink (dot) net, I can answer any other questions. The closest hotels are in Alvin and Pearland. I have a big front yard tho...........

Pat,
If I have a hotel room close to BRI, how far will my drive to Pearland be? Should I get another hotel if the match is moved?

From Greg a few minutes ago...
The best information we can obtain about shooting at the BRI Addicks range this weekend is not good. The recommendation is to start contingency planning.
The BRI team has made the decision look at a contingency of moving the match to PSC this weekend. Indications are good that we will be able to move the match the PSC silhouette range. We expect to get final approval for the move later tonight or tomorrow.
So what changes if we move to PSC?
1) PSC is located approximately 45 minutes from the BRI Addicks range. Details on the location can be found @
http://psc-range.com/index.php/club-info/maps
2) Practice will start at 8 am and end at 9 am on Saturday and Sunday
3) Match will start promptly at 9am each day.
3) A gate code will be required to enter the range and will be provided later
4) Hotels in the area are:

FWIW, PSC is a very nice club. The range is going to be tight with 20+ shooters but manageable. The restrooms are NICE and the weather is supposed to be fantastic.
Too bad water is on the range at BRI. I know they spent Sunday cleaning up and preparing.
It is what it is....
At least it's only a 20 minute drive for me and 5 minutes for the Stieger clan....

I know the host club worked hard to put the match on...... Now they have to start over..
Do they need volunteers to help with the prep work if the match is moved....?

Ok, it's official. I have permission from the Board to have the match moved to PSC. Even better, The range is ready to go, all I have to do is whip out Friday, paint the backstops and viola. It is a nice range, but smaller than BRI. There are REAL restrooms with running HOT and cold water and a water fountain and a coke machine. Parking will be tight as there is an IMSHA match and a CHL class going on. No alcohol on the range please. I will work out the details to get the gate code tomorrow and try to get the info out. A nice feature on the keypad at the gate is if you push 0, it rings my cell phone. If I do it right I can open the gate remotely......ain't technology great? All this will be posted on the gate and we can email y'all the gate code. Merlin, thanks for the offer. We appreciate it. We've got it, just eat your weight in food and knock down all the targets. What have we forgotten?

I tried to book a room at the Americas Best Value Inn & Suites-Alvin and their website said they were full this weekend. I was able to get a room at the Best Western.
Where did y'all get the rates you provided? What I was finding was slightly higher (by about $20 per night).

Heidi, I don't know about rates, but I'm sure they charged you more cuz Bobby is coming with you.
It is about an hour or so, at the speed limit, to PSC. You can't shoot at the range until 8am, so there is no need to be there at the crack of dawn.
Thanks Joe for getting what I missed.
I heard Dustin say, no girl is walking away with this one.

Ha! Yeah right. My money is on a girl winning this one. Very glad we get to shoot!!! Going to be lots of fun.
Two quick questions: is there a physical address for the range and are we shooting free-standing or resettable targets??
Thank you guys for all the hard work you've put into making this match happen despite all the difficulties.
Dustin

Dustin,
The range has three bays of free standing targets with 15 in each bay. Good setup for the 60 shoot match like we are having. Should only need to reset at the end of each rely. Here is a link to the web site of the club with map.
http://www.psc-range.com/index.php/club-info/maps
Parking will be tight on Saturday but the range should have little else but our match on Sunday. Look forward to see everyone there. As far as the hotel costs that was what showed up when I did a search on Google. I would think the hotels are still cheaper than what they were on the west side of town.
Please don't miss the match because of the move. We will still have everything we need to run a great match. There will still be plenty of food and of course target setters.
