This is kind of how I feel about several of the rules. They don't seem to make much sense from a standpoint of actually stopping anything from being done it just seems to dictate to you how you must do it if you want it to be "legal". The fact that you are doing what you are doing is only a issue if not done in the way prescribed. Like saying snorting coke with a straw is not legal but will be considered perfectly acceptable if you use a rolled up dollar bill. You aren't changing anything but the method of transfer which in the end is pretty pointless if your objective is to prevent something from taking place in the first place.

Again let me say I am not advocating for any rules to be changed I am just making the observation that several of them are about as meaningful as tits on a boar hog and I just can't see a reason for any rule at all in some cases.

Thanks for all the input. On a side note I shot a match on swingers with my new HP this weekend and loaded from the mag for Hunter Rifle :p

7mm Creedmoor (wildcat at this point). Uses the same 6.5 Creedmoor brass that I use just necked up to 7mm. Fits in the magazine with tons of room to spare, and gets a better filled case along with slightly reduced velocities. Seems much better than doing the reduced 7-08 loads that we do now. It really seems like a great silhouette cartridge. Little shorter case and steeper shoulder than the 7-08. Brass would be made easily with a single pass through a .284 expander. I think it would be a great partner to my 6.5 Creedmoor. It may just be the perfect silo cartridge. Light recoil and still shoot the 168 SMKs at our silhouette velocities, and can touch the lands and load all rounds from the magazine. Sounds like a great hunter rifle cartridge.

Sorry for getting off topic Dee.
That's already been done, except withe 6.5x47 Lapua brass. The case capacity is the same as the 7mm IHMSA or the 7mm Wally. It's not a bad little cartridge and it shoots a few grains less powder than a 7-08.
For sure. I'm already shooting a 6.5 Creedmoor though so it would be fun to have a 7 CM, and maybe a 6 CM would be a neat coyote cartridge. It'd be fun to have a set of them.

Trent, there is nothing wrong wanting to have rifles chamber to wildcat cartridges that is if you do not mind paying a lot of money for custom dies, reamers, etc. I have a friend that loves to design his own cartridges always trying to improve on what we already have.

I have 3 out of 5 of those boys, if Lapua made factory IHMSA it would be my favorite silhouette cartridge and hunter BR cartridge if Berger made a 110 hpfb.

All you need to complete the 7mm cartridge collection is a short 7mm that uses the 300 Savage case (7mm Wally, 7mm Woody, 7mm Mc Alice)

Tony, according to my well kept records, sometime during the AZ state I will have fired my 25 thousandth round of 7-08 ammo. I will talk to Remington's legal council about relinquishing their naming rights and naming it mine in honor of this accomplishment.

Holy $HIT  :D ..... :ymparty:

Bob,I have not kept track but with one gun at 6K, one at 4k plus another at 1-2k you are the master 7-08 man! I think I have you on duration and number of big game animals taken with the 7-08 though, bought my first Varmint special in 1993 and been killing deer and antelope nearly every year since with the cartridge.

Yeah Kevin, you got me on the big critter kill count but not duration. I bought the same rifle in the spring of '90. :) I used it to take 3 antelope, a mulie doe and dozens of rock chucks.

I like that trade mark symbol, Rick. Looks official. 8)

You use 110 TNT's on rockchucks? I have a 2015 load for those that is devastating on coyotes. If you sort them there actually good enough for HBR.

I used that long discontinued Sierra 130gr. single shot pistol bullet with a full charge of IMR 4064 on the marmots. They do not ring...they explode. The game animals fell to a 140gr. Sierra pro hunter FB and same powder.

Hey Rick, Norma came through with a head stamp approval sample. Said they would not tool up for the 500 pcs. I wanted. They will put their best vibro pen engraver tech on this job. I kinda tweeked the name I preferred for the round. The .284 McA 8)
