Diveristy, I believe is the correct term BB. It is supposed to be encouraged in the world...and as the Quality manager at NREL said when he heard that I was being handed the quality mess at FSEC with the same deputy that has created most of the mess..."You are handing her a large challenge with at least her dominant had tied behind her back." Don't think the director liked that remark too much.
So yes Ducky has his way, but at least he calls it as he sees and it and takes responsibilty for his mistakes. He hasn't had the gumption to rename me yet.

Bob259,
I have not been told that it is an opportunity....just that I am the obvious choice for this position, because the current deputy can not handle it properly...but he is to remain the deputy and of BTW the only time my direct supervisor (department director) will get involved is when there is conflict resolution needed.
The deputy has worked for nine supervisors in 11 years, and the last one he refused to respond to, either in person or writing, he just decided to work (volunteer) for another department and had the balls to ask that that department head do his review, as he had been working primarily for him, despite charging his time toa contract position number. No one up the chain of command had the balls to discipline him for 8 months of failure to respond to his assigned supervisor.
I do have an 18 year record of observing and recording though, and given my share of depositions over my logs, so they will have a slightly harder time with my records if they push me into the position.

Not denying Ducky anything but he has a tremendous team that support his effort to run a match, including but not limited to Robin, Robert, Jerry, Terry, Donnie, the LA democrats and quite a few others that I'm sure I have failed to remember the names of.And he runs a great match!

Frustrating the way some people seem to get away with doing zip and never get called on it....

BB, the crew I work with know how I feel and what I think, it only pisses them off when my predictions come true. The doing nothing I can almost deal with , it is the hour of listening to a 'training' session where the instructor doesn't know the difference between a chemical standard and a procedural standard. Combine that with falsification of time sheets and lying and you have lost my repsect, and I'm not bashful about saying so.So.... how do you really feel

BB...I have always said I was beyond help, quit wasting money with that class of 'professionals when my oldest brother started a masters degree in the stuff and his wife(?) at the time did some of the s*** that you would expect from that group while sailing.
It is more fun to try to hit the liitle spots on steel or paper than lay around trying to expalin to that group of people how you really feel!!!
