Hey Mike if tacoma doesn't want to hold silhouette anymore maybe we could convince them to give us the stands, animals, and swingers so we could take them to one of the afformentioned ranges. It might be an incentive to get the range to want to start a silhouette program if they dont have to build the stands or acquire animals and swinges. Just a thought, hell I'd even donate some money if there willing to sell all the stuff. One P O'd silhouette shooter

Yea, that's hopefully the idea. It's just going to be a painfully slow process that is going to require some diligence it seems...

Its kinda hard judging TSC's state of mind since they seem more interested in blaming the range users instead of working with them.

I keep hoping to see a message from you saying "New silhouette matches at Tacoma!" With that in mind, I'm kinda hoping that you guys aren't in a hurry to get rid of your rails, targets and swingers. If you do decide that you won't be needing them and we don't have another range willing to start up monthly matches, we (Machias) might want them. I took a bunch of pictures of your rails and we're in the process of changing a bunch of stuff over to be more like your equipment (stacked smallbore banks, cowboy rails close to the ground, etc.).

You're much more likely to see a post about me sitting in my beer and crying. Image

This is not the optimal time of year to fight this fight...

Hey Mike,

What are they blaming the range users for? Is this still presented as a safety issue or are other motivations being openly discussed?

In a nutshell, the paid staff opened this can of worms and felt a need to try and fix it by being the liaison between the Board and the users and spearheading the work. We worked with the paid staff who in turn tried to get things done, but it was beyond their abilities. During this time, the Board didn't hear directly from the users and the staff didn't want to look stupid and say anything, so the board assumed none of the users cared and now look to be seizing the opportunity to turn the range into something else. So by "blaming the users" I mean they are trying to interpret our lack of communication with them as disinterest in the range. When confronted with the knowledge that we had already performed work and offered to pay/donate what was necessary, they claim they didn't know, but that it's getting too late. SSDD.

Sad....

Awfully sad story, this........

Shooters are under enough pressure from non-shooters as it is, and to be torpedoed by other shooters is almost incomprehensible. Is there any way people outside the TSC can help?

There is a House Committee meeting this coming Tuesday, the 15th - 7:30pm. Anyone is welcome to attend and I know the Peil (Silhouette) Range is supposed to be a topic so you can add your input to whatever their budding plans are for the patch of grass (and only building with electricity and heating, and that doesn't leak...)

I am planning on attending the meeting and I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE A SHOW OF FORCE FROM ANY OF THE WASHINGTON SILHOUETTE SHOOTERS WHO USE'D TACOMA TO COME TO THE MEETING IF POSSIBLE. We need to let them know that we are serious about our sport and how they the tacoma "SPORTSMAN" club need to support the shooting sports and the people who shoot. I hope to see a lot of you out there :D
