That is the epitome of a silhouette rifle right there Bob. A true workingman's match rifle. Perfect for a guy named "workinmansteve".

Thanks to everyone for all the input and opinions. It is nice to have such a wide knowledge easily accessed. Now to get the tax return filed and go shopping!

A survey of local rifle inventories shows that folks around here like the 30-06 and kinda sneer at anyone using an inferior caliber. I may have to wait out the panic until inventories rebuild, but something good will turn up.

I thibk you will be a winner with either of the sps or T3. Your option may come down to availability or calibre choice. The sps stock is pretty small and if you are bigger you may want to look at another stock, which you can (and affordably) in the States (but not in Aus for hunting class - needs to be all factory, apart from barrel!). Every T3 I have soon shoots at least very well, so ease of tuning should not be a factor. You'll have a bigger range of mounts for the sps but the Tikka/optilok mounts are excellent.

G'day from the Game Ranch
All of "The Brotherhood" know that I like my Sako's. Whats not to like, pull them out of the box, chuck some powder in a case, seat a projectile, run the barrel in while you sight it in and you're in business!
No mods required!! This factory knows how to build rifles. Don't need a trigger job, don't need to bed the action and they feed so smooth they will chamber an empty case from the ( 5 Shot ) mag!
Try that with an SPS!
Cheers folks
