Umm.. not to throw a serious question into this conversation full of comedy, but why not get one rifle set up just perfectly for you so you only have to learn one rifle with one trigger and one scope?

Jason, one rifle...really? I would have to change a barrel every six months with the shooting I do. They are all set up perfectly for me.

All of my silhouette rifles including the good match guns share the same common hunting rifle traits. Weight , length, balance, triggers, LOP ,etc. all the same. Only the other guns have larger power Leupold optics, HS Precision hunter stocks and a few with custom barrels. Pretty much all the same. They shoulder and feel much the same to me. I shoot all of them equally well.

I rarely shoot the good match guns for casual practice. Instead I use the factory barreled guns for this. Fire one five to ten times put it down and grab a cool one, repeat. I always bring four to six of them and lots of ammo with me. I have plenty of spare barrels for them for when they stop shooting well.

The scope photo was just plain 'ol showing off. Don't discount those Leupold 12x's for HP. I know several good shooters using them in big matches.

I'm jealous Bob! I only have 3 heavy silhouette rifles and 2 hunter class....I know I'm supporting barrel makers, reamer makers, stock folks, gunsmiths etc.....but i feel its my duty to perpetuate my sport. fortunately i use the silhouette rifles for 600 yard bench rest for score and will use one of them this year for hunter rifle bench rest 200 and 300 yard for score ....the latter requiring no more than a 6x scope. Shucks I don't think i can get by with only one 'perfect' rifle...there ain't just one

Thanks Bob I really appreciate the invite....I have a 7br in the works and now that they are building a 500 yard range 30 min from home I should be able to warm it up regularly...But I have to admit I like the ideah of haveing a bunch of relatively stock guns for practice in hunter class to save on the wear and tear.

I might be nuts but I love seeing wood stocked rifles get posted on this sight.

My current wish list is to put a standard hp gun together with one of Loren Peter's wood thumb hole stocks but alas he lacks access to a repeater to get the blank started so I might have to keep dreaming.

Jason, seems like you have no one who agrees with your above advice. I certainly don't. I think Bob spoke for himself and I can't disagree with anything he stated.

I suspect if you set forth your proposal on a site that caters to ugly, fat, under-sexed, nagging, bitchy housewives you would find more agreement and maybe even a little adulation.
