Which way should the animals be facing (left or right) ?

This is what we do.

I'm the OP, and yes, I mainly just want to make sure I understand the silhouette game before shooting my first match.

Anyway, I bought a .22LR rifle (actually my first .22LR) and have been practicing the last few weeks. I don't think I'm completely ready yet but I'll be going to my first silhouette match this Sunday anyway. wish me luck :)

You have a rifle and you've been practicing. Can't get any more ready than that.

If a person waits until his rifle, the weather, the ammo, the wind, his mind, the amount of practice, the range and his physical conditioning are perfect he will never shoot a single match. Do what ajj suggested. Go shoot and have fun. Shooting matchs as frequently as possible will help you improve your marksmanship because you can never duplicate match conditions in practice.

I'll second what ajj and atomicbrh stated that there is nothing like shooting matches and as many as you can. Enjoy the day , have fun
and I wish you all the best in your new venture.

Just think of matches as:
1. Practice with somebody telling you when to shoot
2. Practice where you can talk more BS
3. Practice where you can have a witness when you do something unbelievable, such as make targtes jump and stay up, or turn them.
4. And finally think of it as practice where you actually count ONLY what you hit, not what you think you should have hit.
5. Pratice with more fun than a regular practice because of the company.

Just have fun as you get better and better......
