BH, stick with a Jewel. No I did not do my Jackson, it came that way but I had a good opportunity to look at it....KISS my son.

Keep It Simple Stupid! And actually how about a suhl 150? I could snag one of those from one of our BR SHOOTERS and only have to restock it! Possibly a good idea? Cause y'all know, what isn't accurate for a benchrester is still extremely accurate for silhouette!!!

The Jackson triggers, are the only two stage trigger that can be used in the Rem. rifles, they are extremely difficult to adjust properly, but once they are adjusted properly, they work fine. The two that failed at the Nationals are sitting in my house now, one is so beat up around the mounting holes, to the point where the side plates are bend, and the sear is in such a bind that it won't even move, and two of the original set screws have been replaced with slotted head screws, that will also put everything in a bind. Just by looking at the trigger, you can tell that it has been swap from different rifles, by not a very carefull individual, not knowing what he was doing with the improper tools !!!!!!
The second trigger malfunction was due to the third lever pin coming off during the turkey stage, the pin was still inside of the stock, but the small spring under it was lost, rendering it unfixable at the time. I talked to Tom Myers from X-treme the trigger manufacturer, and he admitted that it has happen in the past, and they have change the design to stop this from happening in the future, the triggers have a life time warranty, and they will replace it with the new design at no cost.
The Jackson triggers are a fine, and complicated engineering design, not for the inexperience person to play with it, it has seven different adjustments, and each one affect the rest of the adjustments,so you have to have some patience to adjust it properly, and if it is moved to another rifle, the process will have to be repeated all over.
If you want a really light trigger for a Rem. action, the Jewell trigger is the way to go, they have also made some changes to the design to stop the spring from eventually breaking.
But anytime you go to a lite pull trigger, eventually you will have a failure, but most of the time, a small adjustment on the sear engagement will fix it up.
Now good news for those that own one of the new 1712 with the side safety, and the 54.18 bolt. You can actually mount a 5108 trigger ( 54.18 match trigger ) on it with a one minute modification to the bottom of the action to clear one pin, so you can have a very light trigger pull, or a two stage very nice trigger. The down side is the cost of the trigger, around $325.00 so for those that want a 54.18 repeater ( no longer made ) you can purchase a new 1712 barreled action for about $1100.00 replace the trigger, and now you have a 54.18 MSR.

If the trigger for sale is a Jackson, sorry but it will not fit on any Anschutz rifles, if you are thinking about the Anny 5108 trigger, they will only fit on the new style 1712 with the side safety and 54.18 bolt. Now if you just want a two stage trigger for your 1710, the existing trigger can be converted to two stage, by replacing the actual trigger lever.

Evelio do you know if a 5018 or 5022 would fit the new side safety 1712's?

Thanks,
Pat

Yes BH either one will fit your 1712 after the small modification to the bottom of the action. I had the numbers backwards in the trigger that I mention, it is the 5018 not the 5108.
