This is really a cool idea! .223 is WAY cheaper than 6.5&7mm.

It would deffinatly be cheaper and the 1/2 scale silhouette targets were set up to handle the 222/223 and tcu group of cartriges with a reduce load....now if only those florida clubs that have the range and animals would only shoot it....huum do you hear me.....central florida, malibar, brooksville, jacksonville.

This is the game for the Varmint shooter in you. Yes, any 22cal smallbore class 6mm-25cal standard class because of bullets available and the BC's being so benificial to long range shooting.

At the LASC range in CA they let us shoot rifles with cast bullets and also reduced loads with jacketed bullets as long as we keep our loads under 2000 fps. I have shot a lot of their 1/2 size scale matches through out the years.malinois wrote:It would deffinatly be cheaper and the 1/2 scale silhouette targets were set up to handle the 222/223 and tcu group of cartriges with a reduce load....now if only those florida clubs that have the range and animals would only shoot it....huum do you hear me.....central florida, malibar, brooksville, jacksonville.

I am bringing up this old thread because of how the times have changed recently. Cheap soft nose 55 grain varmint bullets like the dogtowns cannot even be purchased today. They are simply not available to buy. When I originally started this thread reloading .223 varmint rounds was really cheap.
