If you go to the HS Precision website, or look up old Anschutz literature think you'll get your answer. The HS stock does not apear under their sporter stock heading, it is under competiton> They however do have hunter class stock listed within their sporter heading. The Anschutz rifles that had these stocks competed in standard rife....

Except that HS and Anschutz don't make the rules, the NRA does. Also, its pretty clear that the Wooster and Pharr stocks are competition stocks as well and they are widely accepted in the hunter class.

As far as I am concerned it is legal, but it is riding a razor's edge. Right along with the Wooster and Pharr stocks. NRA just states "A hunting style stock" and cannot have a thumbhole, which is incredibly ambiguous. I hunt with a variety of rifles/stocks, including thumbholes and what some folks would consider "competition" style. Depends on what I am hunting. In my case though it doesn't matter because I've since made a new stock that fits me just as good if not better, and it is very much a traditional sporter stock. Maybe they should change the wording to say "A sporter style stock"
