There are more Leupold 24X BR scopes around this game than I imagined. Man I get tired of cranking the AO around for the different animals. Mine is real stiff due to the grease they put in there. In cold weather it is a bear to turn!

If money is no object:
1)Leupold
2)Sightron
3)weaver
4)Bushnell elite

on MY budget, what I'm using:
1) Vortex Viper
2) Bushnell elite

I have used the vortex on a SB rifle for 1 season so far. Had zero problems with it. Time will tell the click durability, but there is a lifetime no-fault warranty on it, so if they do wear out, I will send it back. For the money, I couldn't find any other brand with 68 MOA travel and a target dot in the price range.
DOPE? Boy, do I look like a hippy to you?

Highpower:
Weaver T-24 with 3/8 dot from TK Lee
one is 1/4 minute and the other one just put on last night is 1/8th minute. We'll see how the 1/8th minute works out this weekend. The scope taken off was also a weaver with 1/4 minute adjustment but the dot was a lot bigger( I think 1/2 minute) and just couldnt get used to such a big dot. Will put that on on the girlfriends rig when it gets done being built. the bigger dot might be better for her than me.

Smallbore:
Leupold FX III's in 30 power with 3/8ths dot.

If i had the cash to spend both Highpower rifles would have Leupold 25X FX-3 on them. But for 350 to 400 when you can find them the Weavers are excellent scopes.

I am on a budget and bought a Vortex Viper 6.5-20, DOT, last Fall on Sale. msrp was $500.00 and on sale for 289.00 incl frt last Fall. The optics are really nice on 20X @ 40 meters. I have no experience on repeatability as only used acouple times before the cold air arrived our region. The old Simmons 44Mag went on my .22 Silhoutte pistol. I have nothing to compare my Vortex to a $1000.00+ name scope.

UPDATE:

Just bought two Leupold FX 3 25X from Loren Peter to put on the highpower guns. Tried the 1/8th minute on the standard gun last sunday for the first highpower match of the year and had the damm thing turned all the way down and was hitting three feet over the chickens. Put some shims under the base and only managed to bring her down a foot, so still hitting two feet above the chickens. Had to shoot my hunter rig the whole match :(( Will take the Weavers off and put them on the girlfriend guns. You cant beat a Leupold for clarity and adjustment.

Have been using a B&L Elite 4200 in 36x with a 3/8 minute dot by Ackerman for years. During cold weather it became increasing hard to turn the elevation and windage knobs, so sent both it and one belonging to a friend back to Bushnell for service under the lifetime warranty. Bushnell's response was that the warranty on both had been voided by the relplacement of the reticle by Ackerman and they performed a "goodwill" refurbish on one of the scopes. I am now in the process of replacing the B&L's in my personal inventory with Leupolds.

Nikko's anyone?

Post by chuckjordan2 »

Is anybody using the Niko Sterlings?

I have two TargetMasters 8-32x44 (1/8 MD). It's the Diamand series with Japanese lenses. I picked them up in the UK. TargetMasters were not really distributed by the importer here, but, in the UK...

Ever since I put a Vortex Viper on my .204 I've been a Vortex Junky.

It's all I will ever buy now, and I'm a 5 time repeat buyer...
