No, only the silhouette range has been taken over but not by shotguners but by overprotective lawyers. the high power rifle range sits closer to homes than the silhouette range and the high power only has trees and a dirt bank behind it, nothing like the steel overhangs they are putting up over each bank of animals to lessen the risk of "ricochet". My opinion they dont want to have to put on silhouette matches anymore, even though we get 25 to 30 shooters at five bucks a relay and most everybody shoots two relays. The main thing that gets me is lack of communication from the board to the members, that's one reason I decided to not give them anymore yearly dues to be a apart of thier "club", i can spend my money elsewhere at a different range.

Where are all you guys going to shoot silhouette without the TSC matches? You're always welcome to come up to our matches at Machias (weekend of the third Sunday of the month), but I wouldn't mind finding another place to shoot when I can, too. Anyone got ideas?

I feel for you guys up there. Shooting ranges can become as political as anything else. It will sure be interesting what they replace it with. I doubt safety was the real issue at all.

Damn. Tacoma was the range that I went to to see how a silhouette match should be run. That's where the master class shooters were, all the way down to new shooters almost every match. Where's that list of matches that you sent out email requests for a while back? I guess we're all going to have to find somewhere else to shoot.

If the've decided to turn the range into something else becuase their not making enough money off of us then SCREW them, they can kiss my ass!!! My mind is made up they are no longer getting any of my money, I am no longer go to shoot at their range, I'm am telling people who ask where to shoot not to go there. I am so PISSED OFF  right now if you can't tell. I KNEW THIS WASN'T A "SAFTEY ISSUE" ITS A MONEY ISSUE. GREEDY MOTHER F!#@ERS

you guys have any other options close by? Unfortunately shakes they are probably not concerned with your money. Just like Kimber now not making rimfires isnt concerned with it. Companies and organizations are continuing to put there efforts to extract more dollars, even if it is not the right thing to do.

Yes we do have three other ranges to go to, but you get spoiled when you can shoot every weekend and then have two of those days get pulled out from underneth you. Two of the other ranges have matches on the same day so were only down to two days a month to shoot now. Does anybody have a shoulder I can cry on some more

Shakes, Maybe if you work with the other clubs and propose they stagger the days. We do that here and it woks out well. Everybody wins that way.

Let me make this an official invitation for everyone to come up and shoot at our matches in Machias. We have our smallbore hunter and standard matches on the third Sunday of the month and only skip June (annual range meeting), September and October (hunter sight-in). We also have our smallbore and pistol cartridge cowboy right and hunter pistol matches the Saturday before that Sunday.

With that said, I'd like to find another weekend to shoot smallbore silhouette within driving distance. I haven't had a sec to track down that document that Mike made yet, but I'll try to get to that today.

Jason, Capitol City Pistol and Rifle Club down past Oly a little ways has also started shooting silhouette on the 3rd sunday also. Its a little closer than Machias, but believe me if no captiol city I'd be there at Machias.

Hmm.. Maybe I'll hit the centerfire cowboy matches up at Custer on the second Saturdays then. I've been meaning to do it, but haven't gotten around to it due to coming down to Tacoma on the second Sunday for smallbore. It might be fun to knock down those big rams out at 200m with the 30-30. :)

Yeah this is real BS. I just started shooting at Tacoma in December and I'm hooked. Being from Bremerton, everything is now at least two hours away! It's not like there would be any lack of labor to get the job done. I can't think of anyone who wouldn't be there to help. It looks like with my Hunter Ed classes coming up, I'll only be able to hit a match every other month and shoot paper in the mean time. I can't believe they won't consider letting the matches run until they get their act together.
I pray that I will be able to break away on whatever weekend Dave is willing to hold his clinic. I really don't want to miss out on a chance to learn from the best and hopefully advance the learning curve.

We know Ravensdale was interested in starting a Silhouette program.
I'd be curious if Gig Harbor is (as they used to have one, IIRC).
Tacoma R&R is being looked into.
Paul Bunyan actually has a program already, just not smallbore.
