Your right, my wife just shakes her head. I already have it bad with guns. I like guns that shoot better than the user. Went today to check on a custom 7mm-08 I'm having Banks Beiling from Ga build me on a 700 action. For some reason I want to take a Georgia deer at 600 yds plus this year. A few years ago bought a sharps 38-55 uberti, shot it out to 500 yds, it

Be careful.. if you get hooked on silhouette, the rest (including cowboy action) will probably never get used and will eventually be sold for that reason. I've tried a few other disciplines, including benchrest and trap, and only shoot silhouette matches now. Between standard, hunter, and cowboy lever action matches, I don't have time for other matches. I also don't have any interest in them. Silhouette is the hardest discipline I've ever competed in. Maybe that's why it's the most fun. :)

Jason is correct, I have done alot of other disciplines as well. I get the urge to shoot them again from time to time but I never do. I always find a sil match or if i go to the range I bring the smallbore rifles. Welcome to the sport now go out and FIND A FRIEND TO SHOOT WITH YOU. LETS GROW.

Hutch,

You are lucky you are not near Spotting Kitty, he is the worst among the sillywet dealers, he will lure you in by lending you a nice gun and ammo.... the first few times is free and then WHAM.... you will be hooked and then there is no hope for you..... you will be selling your family heirloom for ammo that was 520 a case now but 1000 in the future...

But seriously.... have fun and try to blend in with the crowd. It is not hard to be in with these group. All you need is a rifle, it does even have to be a working rifle, just tell them it is a work in progress.

Hope to see you in any of the matches, BTW where is warner robbins?

Well your right, Didn't shoot today but enjoyed watching and talking to the guys and gals. And trying to figure out what gun I want just got more confusing. And O, My wife wanted to ride along. And guess what, ammo just doubled. Luckly I just built a 10-22, boyd stock - Kidd trigger - just got to change the mach2 barrel out (this just became her gun). Any suggestion on a barrel. So now I got to buy me one, just not sure what. Any suugest, want something I want ever want to sell. Something I can take as custom as I want later. Maybe the Anschutz 1712. And this is for sale on rimfire, Can you tell me something about it (Anschutz barreled action 1600 with hart bbl threaded.Sight blocks - built by Roger Brock - Has shot 247's with mid level ammo on USBR). I'm hooked $$$ And Papabear, Warner Robins is just outside Macon Georgia or 50 minutes SE of Atlanta off I-75

A 1712 Anschutz is hard to argue with. If you want more, let Evelio drop it in a Pharr stock and possible put a Lilja barrel on it.

Thanks BlauBear, I hear people talk about the A 1712 and I hear the more I like it and the feel of the rifle is good. I like the look of the Pharr stock. OK guys, the 1,000 dollar question, where's the best place to get a A Anschutz 1712 and to buy a Pharr stock.

Hutch, Welcome to the forum. I was in the Army with a guy from Sunnyside, it was off from 1-75 south of Atlanta. I think the nearest town of any size was Griffen. Do you know where it is. When I ETSed, I stayed there for a couple of weeks.

I guess I would be better to find A 1712 and send it to Evelio. Or can he just build a rifle.

Jim, I Know right where your talking about.

If you just want to buy a 1712 Champions Choice (http://www.champchoice.com/index.html) is your first stop. If you want to jump in with a custom rig, talk to Evelio first and follow his lead.

I noticed he has an ad on the Steel Chickens home page, so clicking on that is probably easiest.
