308, i dont now how much you would save with a glue on pad. In my opinion i would use either a straight Leupold 25x or a 6.5x20x40mm EFR with BKL rings and you would be ok. Or put a Pharr Synthetic or try and find one of the 1712 FWT stocks.

The couple of 1712s that I have handled with McMillian stocks felt much lighter than mine with the wood stock.

Your above reply is the first reference to a 2019 Florida State Championship Match in Jacksonville, Fl.?
Where was this match announced?
It was not announced on NRA Coming Events.
It was not announced on this forum steelchickens.
The best way to lower attendance is to never advertise that a match is being held.
You are correct that it has not been announced. In the past it seems Innocent (Mary) posts it for the Match Directors there in J'ville.
I also know that Hugh McCombs has been quite sick with multiple hospital stays. I won't go into more detail on that.
But Hugh has sent out the announcement to his email list.
I'll contact him and see if he wants me to post something in Clubhouse and/or Smallbore.
Thanks for noticing it wasn't announced anywhere.
Greg

Thanks Greg.
I found Hugh's e-mail address and requested to be added to his e-mail group.
It would be convenient for us to stop by and visit relatives on the way to that match.
Apologies to OP 308 for the thread drift.

Steve Wooster makes great synthetic stocks. Some are expensive and some are not, depending on what you want.

Steve's member ID here on steelchickens is 'sdwooster'; send him a PM with your questions about stocks.

Hey 308,
I also put his email in my response on page 1. . .
repeated here: sdwooster <at> msn <dot> com
of course you'll have to put it in correctly - I've done it that way to keep the bots from catching it and using it!

Re: 8.5x25 30mm tube and Annie 1712 make weight?
Thanks Greg,
I'm going to shoot it awhile,
If it doesn't make weight I'll shoot it in standard.
I mean I just got it and it's got a good looking piece of wood on it.
I hate to sentence my wood stock to the closet immediately,
I'll see where I'm at then I'll know what I have to do.
Thanks all!

Not sure what part of the country you're in. If you're anywhere near us in tbe PacNW or if plan on coming to the CBC then checking out one of Steve Woosters many stock designs. He does great work and is one heck of a nice guy.

No sir I reside in Fl.
About two hrs from gateway in jax fl and 3 hrs from Brunswick, Ga.
I hope to shoot some occasionally at these ranges.
It's been nearly 25 years since I shot the steel critters.
