What is your favorite metal polish to polish cases with?
I am running out of Wenol metal polish that I used to use on my motorcycles.
What brand of polish does the collective here like to use?
Has anyone have good luck at chucking up pieces of brass in a drill to make the polishing go quicker?
I am thinking that if I get a larger drill I will be able to fit the case base in the drill and polish the cases quicker.
This doing it by hand is taking waaaaayyyyy too much time.

if you want your brass bright, after the tumbling/cleaning cycle(s), change the water and add a few drops of dish soap and a 1/4 cup of white vinegar. Tumble for another 30-60 minutes.
I used to do that but came to the conclusion I really don't care if the brass looks shiny new. Clean is good enough.

I'm still using the corn cob with polish added. Not that it matters how shiny it is. But it does help take off the case lube after sizing. Which is the only reason I do it.

You don't rub down each case with automotive metal polish?jbolt wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 2:37 pm if you want your brass bright, after the tumbling/cleaning cycle(s), change the water and add a few drops of dish soap and a 1/4 cup of white vinegar. Tumble for another 30-60 minutes.

I throw mine in a tumbler with crushed walnut from a lizard terrarium bag and forget about it for a couple or three days. It's a little dusty, but wiping off dust and blowing out the inside is a lot easier than what it sounds like you're going through.

Enough of that silliness. I am just going to tumble my brass with some water and dish soap. No more metal polish, drills and polishing rags for me.
I just hope that I am measuring out the powder correctly.
Small bore is so much easier to shoot. Just buy and shoot.

I find the concentrated de-greasers work very well for breaking down the powder residue and rinse off well. Dish soap is not as effective for that but seems to help the brightening step when used in small amounts with vinegar. Too much dish soap leads to lots of suds which is a pain to rinse.DavidABQ wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 10:37 am Enough of that silliness. Try using dish soap like that used in dish washers. Cascade or the like. Its low sudding unlike regular dish soap and it'll be lemon fresh!!

I use the Lee case trimmer for 35Rem. The shell holder chucks into a drill.DavidABQ wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 12:13 pm

You can trim, chamffer, debur, and shine without having to take it out of the drill.

A few minutes in a 10% CLR solution cleans them just fine. Clean is good.......... shiney is a waste of time.

When I tumble my brass wet with steel pins I put in a couple drops of dawn, and a squirt of lemi-shine. They come out clean and fairly shiny.
