FWB300 Running Boar qualify?
Howdy folks,
I'm wondering if a FWB 300 Running Boar/Target with a thumbhole stock would qualify as a Target rifle.
I checked the NRA rulebook and didn't see anything specifically about thumbhole stocks on a 10-meter target rifle, but since it was designed for a different game (Running Boar/Target) I'm not sure if it qualifies or not.
I'm asking because I may have an opportunity to buy one and if doesn't qualify than I will pass.
Thanks.

Briefly, what is this game? I've never heard of it.

This is where I feel like the NRA rules are a bit lazy, but I can understand why. From the way I read the rules if the rifle qualifies for the 10M ISSR Air Rifle it qualifies for NRA Target Air rifle.acorneau wrote:Howdy folks,

That being said, if you look at the ISSF rules on page 347 section 7.4.2.2, a thumbhole stock is not allowed.3.3 Silhouette Air Rifle: (a) wrote:Target Air Rifle: Any unaltered factory target air rifle designed for U.S. and International 10 meter competition.

After reading about what running boar is, I think I see me building an air rifle one for the Coop one day. Not to be hosting formal events, but just for kicks. Sort of a side show. Might be fun.

It is legal as a Target rifle. Just keep in mind that the Running Boar version probably has a single-stage trigger so if you want a two-stage trigger, check on that.acorneau wrote:I'm wondering if a FWB 300 Running Boar/Target with a thumbhole stock would qualify as a Target rifle.

Dustin, I met a fellow by the name of Jim Finley at a gun-show in Amarillo Tx in 2015. One of the nicest people we have met in our travels to the U.S.
He invited us to call on him at home as he wanted us to shoot the small-bore 50m running bore on a range he has set up at his ranch at Claude Tx.
We shot at his range and then he took us on a tour around the district which included a trip down into the back of the Palo-Duro canyon where he and his brother used to hunt.
He used to be the National coach for the sport and is a wealth of knowledge. If you were contemplating maybe running matches he would be worth contacting. I don't have his details but Claude is a small town and he seemed to be a well known and respected local identity.
