Aiming Question
I have recently learned that you do not try to hold on the center of an animal in silhouette. Instead you break the shot as you reticle is moving onto the animal.
My question is: do you to move in the same pattern/motion everytime? such as from the left to the right or dowm to up?
Do you just try to get the target dot moving towards the animal and break the shot as it moves past the edge of the animal?
Any suggestions?

Re: Aiming Question
I think you might try focusing on the spot and break the shot as your natural wobble brings the dot/crosshairs into that spot. Is it wise to manufacture movement such as left to right/up to down? Your body is probably going to do different things in different environments, my vote is to not manufacture movement and just work with your natural wobble.

Re: Aiming Question
If I remember correctly, D Tubbs used a method similar to what you describe---you might check out his books for his explanation and method.

Re: Aiming Question
I can't hold the gun perfectly still. I can move the sights on target in a repeatable pattern that has less wobble
Pigs and Rams I settle right of the body and pull into the target breaking the shot when I see center. Looking at a long run of shots on paper painted animals full size group it's wider than tall. Used to do the same Chickens and Turkeys. Both taller than they are wide. Now I settle under those two critters raise up and break the shot center. Group is taller than wide.
This straight out of David Tubbs first book.

Re: Aiming Question
Thank you everyone. It seems I need to experiment this weekend and see what works for me.
I don't think I can do a repeatable movement yet and do it slow enough.

Re: Aiming Question
You should buy David Tubbs first book " High Power Rifle" he has the best description of how to shoot offhand I know of. " Approach Method" is not new though. Read Harry Popes article on shooting offhand from 1922 Exactly the same as David Tubb. Words are different swing into the bullseye and break, No different 100 odd years later.

Re: Aiming Question
We'll be there Sunday morning. Busy weekend again with a family reunion out at the res' today. But definitely looking forward to practice since school started back up.
By the way, my orange dead blow I use for driving the spinners in finally blew up. Kind of bummed because I had to get a new one.
