Scope Mounts for CZ 455

Recently purchased a CZ 455; want to mount a Weaver 15x; What kind of scope mounts and how high? I'm thinking that offset mounts would be necessary . Any recomendations?

I like a scope mounted low on a hunting rifle but thought that a higher mount for Sillouhette made sense. Also, I have a long neck so a higher mounted scope makes even more sense.

I have been using a BKL 261 on a CZ 455.

+1 for BKL. They make a variety of quality risers and mounts at a fairly reasonable price.

I use a 20MOA DIP weaver mount and Burris medium rings with plastic insert. The bolt is pretty close, but not an issue. I have the varmint stock, so the cheek is pretty high. I also have the DIP sear, andthetrigger is like a Jewel trigger.

I am a fan of the BKL line of scope rings. The BKL257 is my recommendation.

I also have a 455 varmint. I am going to pick up a Leupold 6-18x40 to mount on it. If going with the BKL 200 rings would you recommend the 257 or 257h? I'm not sure how to tell if I need the higher rings with out attaching a scope and taking a look to see if it is comfortable. Any help would be appreciated.

This is a question you would be most knowledgeable about, based on your experience with what you currently have on the rifle. How high are the rings you are using now and how do they work for your "built position"? If they work, why not give them a try with your new Leupold?

It's a new rifle, nothing has been mounted on it yet. It's also the only rifle I've ever purchased out side of an AR that does not have iron sights. So I'm assuming the stock is set up to give a good sight picture through a scope not irons. Which makes me think the lower rings would be better...

When you are shooting many shots in a comp, the low rings will give you more neck strain. You should have your head erect and your neck straight. Probably not the detailed answer you were looking for...... Not everyone is built the same. Some have a short neck, long neck, high cheek bone, low cheek bone, and on and on. I would recommend the 20 min base so you don't have to shim the back of your scope to stay in the middle of the elevation adjustment.

I started with the BKL 257 and then found that that I needed to add the BKL 181 riser to be more comfortable and stay within the rules. The BLK 257-H was not quite enough when used alone and if used in combination with the riser, would have exceeded scope-height limit. You can never go wrong with BKL products. Rock-solid to the point that I use them on my springer air rifle.
