H414 Powder for 7mm-08
Does anyone use H414 powder for 7mm-08. I have the chance to purchase 8lbs for $240.00. I am running out of 4064. I have six pounds of Varget that I was hoping to save. Thanks

I have experimented with it in the past. Only fair accuracy, loud blast and flash, not at all tolerant of lighter charges, designed for near max charge performance. Keep shopping around and be patient, better 7-08 propellants are coming back. The 4895 series of powders are 7-08 winners, too. Where are you located ?

Bob is steering you true whale. 4350 imr and 4895 are starting to be plentiful here in the NW.
Heck cabelas in Idaho had more 4350 on the shelf (not hidden behind the counter) than I've seen in almost 2 years now. It's getting better out there.

Re: H414 Powder for 7mm-08
Bob,
Thank you for the quick reply. I now live in unfriendly gun state of New Jersey due to my job. I travel across the state line into Pennsylvania or roam the internet to purchase my supplies since many local gun stores have nothing in stock. I would like to support the local mom and pop store or small business, but these are difficult times. Also, I just started to reload for the rifles. Seems like a bad time to start this adventure. I do thank everyone on this forum and the ranges that I have visited for all your help, advice and suggestions. Getting back to the H414 powder, people seem to love it or hate it. As Bob stated if it isn't used near the max it seems to be dirty. Also, some shooters had very good results using magnum primers with the powder. I would like to purchase a pound or two to experiment with it or use for the .223/5.56 ammo. Thank you again.
