Re: Texas State Smallbore match
IMPORTANT INFO on the match
The code to get int the gate will be 2225. I will be active from 12 noon on Friday until close, and 7:30am till 3pm Saturday and Sunday.
Please write it down. To use the code, you will pull up to the box, hit the "key symbol" twice and enter the code. The gate will open. You will not need it to exit.
We will be using range 3. You enter the range, go straight until the road curves to the right, follow the curve thru 180 degrees and look for the yellow backstops. You will not leave the paved surface. I say this because there is an IMHSA match on Range 1 on Saturday. Don't be fooled by the big animals.

Nice range, except for the whole needing a paddleboat to set targets thing. Someone sure put in a lot of work on that setup.

"Target Setters... get in your dinghies and reset!"
Make sure your target setters are up to date on their nautical knots so they can properly tie off to the target stands while resetting.

Nice to see those old stands. Students and I built those in a metal shop class in '83 and '84. Lots of work to complete those before the first nationals in Fort Worth.

Charlie,
I shot on the stand at the Nationals in Fort Worth before they ended up at Bayou Rifle. A few years ago Bayou Rifles added some expanded metal to the bottom of the stands. Now to set target all you do is reach in the stand, none on the ground except for an occasional chicken that bounces out. Very nice when it is wet the target never get muddy. But as everyone can see there was no choice but to move the match. The PSC range may be small but with the 15 targets in each bay I still think we can run the match in less than four hours each day.

Re: Texas State Smallbore match
Well it's 6pm, the range is clean and quiet. Thanks to all the competitors who braved the myriad of changes to make this match happen. Thanks to the committed group of volunteers who helped put this on. We hope everyone has a safe drive home whether its 3 miles
or 3000miles. Thanks to our sponsors like Briley who gave us huge prizes for our table and Lapua to the Club members who donated knives and ammo from their personal stocks. Thanks to the PSC board, who accommodated our last minute venue change and to the members that made it happen. Thanks to Bill Motl and Elisabeth Steiger for the food. Yum! Congratulations to our winners, Elisabeth for Standard rifle 57/60 and Gabriel Villareal de Chango 53/60 in Hunter Rifle, and Elisabeth for State Champion Aggregate 109/120. A special shout out to Hayley Kunzil who scored her first 15 in a row of many to come.
Congratulations to our class winners, the others in your class hope you move up soon!!! The matches ran smoothly and quickly thanks to out 4 h club target setters and our match callers, Brad Bishop and Paul Freeman. We hope that we will see y'all soon at another match.

and yes, ALL my children beat me this time. Thankfully it was a 5 minute van ride.

Re: Texas State Smallbore match
Looks like it was a great match, scores were really close.
I really hated to miss it, and a great chance to visit with all friends, but I had a family get together that I could not back out.
Pat, I really fill sorry about your scores, it is pretty bad when all 3 kids outscore you, but maybe is time to accept the fact, that you are getting old, and no longer able to keep up with the young ones. HA,HA.
Now you now why I kind of given up on Sil.
Congratulations to all winners !!!!!!!
Evelio.

Pat's biggest problem was worrying about everything happening correctly. He did a remarkable job shooting with all the irons he had in the fire. Not that his children aren't coming along nicely as well....
Both clubs and the competitors owe Mr. Steiger a huge thanks.

I am pretty sure that Pat will have plenty excuses for his performance, and I know he worked his ass off to make sure everything runned great, but he is used to that, so lets not give him any more excuses. !!!!!!!!!!

Re: Texas State Smallbore match
On behalf of the Lake Houston 4H Outdoor Explorers I would like to say a giant Thank You to the shooters and hosts of the match. I could not think of a better group of individuals to have our children around. I can always count on a smile and help from y'all. Thank you Bill for allowing our club to earn their keep and feeding us so well. Thank you to all attending for your donations. Your help will directly help these kids, who run like deer:-), attend the National BB Gun match in Rogers, Ark. This match is hosted by Daisy and will have close to 60 teams from across the country. It is truly something to see and gives the kids wonderful memories for life. A side thank you to NRA members and Friends of the NRA. Our club is growing and through the NRA grant program our club has been awarded a large equipment grant. Two items in this grant are CZ smallbore rifles to be used to expose kids to the world of shooting y'all enjoy so much. So you'll be seeing more of our kids shooting with y'all soon. We cannot thank everyone enough. Know we had a wonderful time!
