New PIG load - It's a killer!!!

Post by Trent »

150gr Nosler Ballistic Tip at 2600fps out of a 22'' barrel and a .30 RAR chamber. Didn't have any ringers. Shoot, hardly even had a twitchy twitchy. The boar was at about 30 yds with a perfect double boiler room shot. The sow then went on a dead run right at me and I was able to hit the center of the forehead at about 5 yards. Thank goodness I had an evil "black" rifle or I would have gotten ran over! 10 seconds, 2 shots and lots of pork chops! My buddy had to shoot his twice with his little .223rem. I guess that counts as a ringer. ;)

Great shooting! I love little black rifles. :D

Too bad it may soon be impossible to buy any more of them.

Good shooting Trent, makin bacon. I remember you getting a smoking deal on that Remington at Sportsmans. You could double your money on it today. Bring back a breeding pair of them hogs so we can hunt them here......NO NO..nevermind. Bad idea.

Bob, they'll beg you to hunt those things around here! Too bad I didn't invest in AR lowers or high cap magazines, but fortunately my taste runs to bolt actions anyway - okay, I would have had to club the sow, but that's not my point...

Yeah I got that rifle for almost half off cause it is a weird caliber. Knocks the snot out of the pigs and deer!

You'll just have to come here and shoot silhouette now that Culpepper is getting the HP going, then we'll go out and test one of your 7-08's out on some real oinkers! :@)

Now that sounds good. I will talk to Dave about hauling all of CRC's animals in his mini van to the Kids inaugural first match. Five of each target wont be enough. I will put iron sights on the Remchester for some after match pig hunting.

Trent, that round/rifle combo looks to be perfect for that kind of close in hunting.

BC, you need a knife taped to the end of your bbl if you go pig hunting with that tall back east guy. =)) They can't get past a good cold steel pig sticker. :ymdevil:
