2013 Air Rifle Silhouette Nationals - What's the best date?
If you've been following the posts over in the Club House, you know that the NRA is going to allow us to host the nationals in Baton Rouge in 2013. We need to set a date.
Those that are interested in attending, when is the best time for you???
Note, we do not want to conflict with other big matches. Also, late May and June are out due to Winnsboro in early June. ( we hope to see everyone there as well as in Baton Rouge for both the Southern Nationals and the NRA Nationals!)

Having lived in southeast Texas for 20 years, any time from May 1 through October 1 is going to be bloody hot and humid.
My suggestion, when school will be out, is the week between Christmas and New Years. Cool in the south, frozen in the north.

But it's a wet heat.txairshooter wrote:Having lived in southeast Texas for 20 years, any time from May 1 through October 1 is going to be bloody hot and humid.

Not sure how many people would travel on the Christmas Holiday. Then you are really asking a lot of those that barely get away from their wives the rest of the year to shoot.

Trespassers will be shot.
Survivors will be shot again!

This is a great point and certainly something to think about; but Dee is right that the week between Christmas and New Year's is going to put a lot of people in a rough spot travel-wise. There are lots of family gatherings and holiday travel that time of year. Also, we never know what kind of weather we are going to have at that time. It would be tough to shoot a Target rifle match in some of the wind that we have in the winter.txairshooter wrote:any time from May 1 through October 1 is going to be bloody hot and humid.
The consideration of kids being out of school is important. And with Winnsboro being in June and so many other national championship matches in July, we have been looking hard at the first weekend of August.
Does anyone know the dates of the smallbore and highpower nationals next year?

Dustin, next years nationals will be set when the committee meets in November. You have a lot to learn about the 'system'.
