Danish Shultz & Larsen M62 free rifle for iron sight Silhoue

Post by 6mmintl »

I have a Danish Shultz & Larsen M62, .308 Winchester, This is a original 300 meter free rifle in excellent ++ condition inside/outside with a 27.5” heavy barrel.

Double set trigger (4 oz.) with massive 10mm thick walled single shot action, Original rear/front sights are offset to left, front globe sight has spirit level and takes Anschutz apertures’, one is included.

Adjustable butt plate andan extra Hook butt platecame with it. Barrel is marked 3006 but is 308 Winchester +.003” Sami “go gage”.

This rifle weigh’s 15.7 lbs and could be an excellent FTR class, long range rifle, or? iron sight Silhouette rifle?

Is the weight limit the same for iron sight rifles? What other rules does this rifle offend?

Nice rifle, most shooting in the US with the International style guns today is Schuetzen, However Schuetzen offhand is limited to falling blocks and cast bullets. Having said that Schuetzen is very loosly organized and individual clubs may allow you to shoot it with Cast bullets even though it's a bolt action. Doubt if any would allow full power jacketed 308's. Look at ASSRA.COM for a club near you and ask the Schuetzenmaster. Also doubt if a Bolt would be eligable for prizes records etc. Be a lot of fun to shoot though. Schuetzen is 200 yards offhand on the German 25 ring target. 25 center is 3/4 moa. Demanding target.

Our Club smallbore Regulation match runs mornings, afternoon we have iron sight swinger matches on the CLA target. Allow any .22 iron sight, Single shot Lever and Bolts seperated. Many unusual free rifles show up, always welcome and admired by the shooters, We find the iron sight guns do best on larger CLA targets, have let them shoot 1/5 size smallbore with little sucess. My guess is if a match allowed that S&L on full size high power targets it would not do well. There is a "M1" Class in High power Silhouette and guys have shot them in our matches, never saw a double digit score mostly due to the sights.
