Re: Resettable SB Silhouette targets?
I haul the other half of the smallbore resettalbe targets to the range with Dee. They are a bit heavy to handle by yourself, but like Dee says, in 5 minutes they are in the truck and I am on my way. There was no way we were going to ever be able to put permanent stands out on the range we have, and driving stakes into the ground is much easier said than done. Much less sweating and swearing before a match putting out the resettable targets than it was driving the stakes for sure. Like most shooters, I prefer to shoot freestanding animals off permanent rails, but we got what we got and make the best of it.
Of all the designs of resettables, I like the ones that TX Charlie has at Haltom City the best. Simple and tough. A great combination in my opinion for any mechanical device that you are planning to shoot at. I had looked into building a set of 1/2 scale animals for cowboy matches at our range, but the lack of interest is putting that idea on hold for now. If you can't get shooters to shoot freestanding animals, you won't get them to shoot resettables either. We actually have more people interested in shooting at some high power swingers I had made that are scaled to sit right at the 300 yard berm than there are in shooting cowboy matches. Not hard to figure that one out if you have ever shot HP rifle silhouettes.
