Knee surgery SUCKS!!!!!

Post by shakes »

I know a lot of yu have been wondering where is shakes :-? HA HA HA. I'm still here hold up at mom and pops till I can walk again. June 28th so happend to be the day that I learned first hand as to the saying "I never saw him" is when the lady in her brand new convertable mustang decided she needed to be where I was. The harley has suffered a bent frame and forks and crushed fender, while I escaped with a tibial plateau fracture of the left knee and now have cadaver bone and a cool titanium l shaped plate where my knee used to be. Doc said no weight on knee for eight weeks #-o I asked him if he could put some sort of balancing gyro scope in there to give me an advantage over the rest of you guys but was out of luck :)) He told me I would never be able to run again and I said "the only time i run is after the ice cream truck when it comes down the street" =)) I am going to try and make it out to the monthly match at PeEll and do a "sit and shoot" just to keep my spirits up and say hi to everybody. I should be walking by september and hope to participate in the state matches (fingers crossed). Been trying to keep up with the goings on on this here website from time to time. Came back to work yesterday and am feeling good. Having not shot the rifles in quite awhile sucks as well and am starting to get what the call "itchy trigger finger" or maybe I got that from the girlfriend :-o . Its good to be back, even though not at 100%.

Sorry to hear about this Shakes! I'd suggest getting a 'Vette instead of a bike, but those have trouble on most range roads.

Sorry to hear about the crunched bike and the crunched you. I'm thinking about selling mine just due to not having time to ride and wanting to put that money to other uses. If you're sitting around with nothing to do, you can load me up a bunch of ammo. :)

I love how the Google Ads at the bottom have all changed to offers to fix my ACL thanks to your post! LOL

Wonder what happens if we post about hooters? Probably try to sell me an owl or something...

[quoteJason I dont think I can reach the loading bench from where I'm at right now ][/quote] Damn we'll have to get a hoist and lift you up there...so we can both get some reloads, as long as you promise not to be on the phone with Cheryl while you are loading for us!!!

Whoa..hold on there Mary and Jason. I am not so sure about having Shakes load your ammo is such a good idea given his SHAKE-y track record so far. :) That girlfriend of his is just too much of a distraction right now. Just kidding ya Shakes, get well soon.

Mary I think a cherry picker would be more suited for the job :))

The girlfriend's be real good to me through this whole ordeal. Coming to see me everyday and she has to drive an hour to get to me. Its funny everyone keeps telling me to sell the bike except her. She wants me to heal and get back on as soon as possible. I think I picked a good one this time around :-bd

Learned my lesson on reloading, so (fingers crossed) it wont happen again.

Thanks for the words Bob.

UPDATE!!!!
went to the doc on wednsday and some more x-rays taken and after looking at them he is very impressed with how my knee is healing and he was amazed at how far i was able to bend it without pain. He said most of the people with this kind of injury couldnt bend it past 20 degress from straight out. Im able to get about 75 before it stiffens up and the pain starts alittle. i guess it helps being younger and having this happen. Went shooting as well, didnt realize it was going to be harder sitting down rather than standing. One thing i did learn, adjust your ram setting almost a minute down from normal. Most of my shots were over the back. Still managed to get a 25 in both guns, not bad for a cripple =)) gonna try high power this weekend. thanks for all the kind words guys, it means alot. :ymhug:
