St Louis Match Cancellation for Sunday 12/3/06

Post by Jetmugg »

I just got an email from the match director - the StLouis Benchrest Club range is closed tomorrow - bad weather I presume. This would have been the last SB Silhouette match of the year at the club. There is still a lot of ice on the ground around the area.

It's a bummer, sort of makes me wish I was in a warmer climate right now.

Don't feel bad, our year end match has been canceled as well due to 2ft of snow on the range. It's better this way though, imagine trying to find a chicken in two feet of snow!
Better weather is on it's way for everyone "we hope".

Wow - do the rules allow for off-white paint in the event of snow?

My understanding is that you can paint the targets any color so long as they are all the same color.

Yep. I've seen pictures of official NRA-approved matches with orange, or even black, animals.

Tulsa Red Castle shoots black, Ed Jones picked blaze orange for the Tennessee State Match. The black seems to create the illusion (at least to me) that the targets are smaller.
