Ridgway Rifle Club would probably be your closest range.

Re: New to HP silhouette & few questions
Mason,
Thank you for the great post/reply! I think I'll need to get into reloading if going to shoot HP. I haven't fully explored this site yet, but does it have a classified section? If so I'll look into possibly purchasing a used spotting scope there.
Dang9,
I'm near Pittsburgh, PA in allegheny county. I was hoping to keep my driving times to two-hour drive one-way if possible. But if I can find a club that holds regular monthly matches I can probably drive a little further. Not sure where Ridgeway Club is at so have to look it up.
Regards,
Leo

My Bad. I always think pittsburgh is on the east of Pa. Ridgeway is the best bet for you, only an hour or two from where you live. Again thats where they hold the nationals match as well as a few state matches. Always a big crowd there.

Shakes & Dang9,
Thanks for the feedback on the Ridgeway Club. I use to hunt with buddy up in Clairion/Venago county area, so drive shouldn't be too bad!

Re: New to HP silhouette & few questions
Leo, if you travel just a few miles more north on 219 there is another club in Bradford. They shoot most everything but HP. Cowboy and pistol silhouette mostly. Check the NRA's web site and sign up for the shooting sports news letters. its free now. Good luck and hope to see ya at the range. You can't miss me I'm the only guy you'll see with Mass. licence plates.

Question for Everyone,
I noticed that it all prefer turrets compare to ballistic plex. Why is that? Is it because you are using different loads for different ranges/targets? Thanks!

I think you mean dot reticals to plex reticals. or target turrets to the standard turrets. yes?

Re: New to HP silhouette & few questions
Dang9,
Yes, turret, be they target turret or regular turrent. It seems silhouette shooter prefer to twist/turn turret when shooting. Me coming from hunting background, I would prefer not to fiddle with changing/turning turrets and just have a ballistic plex like those from Burris or Leupold. The catch with those ballistic plexes are they are for a single load, ex 150gr 308Win at XXX fps.
I guess what I'm concern about regarding turning turrets is what if I loose count where I'm at in turning the turrets during a match? I'm kinda screwed until I can resight & reset my turrets.
I guess you can tell my bias against turrets and my hunting background, adjust your turret to set your sights and then forget about them...lol

Re: New to HP silhouette & few questions
In this game you twist the turrets. Hunters fear changeing there setting cuz its noise and movement that scares the prey away. also a cheap scope will not return to there origional setting. No such problem here. I write down my settings in a book. when I think they are good I put it on a piece of paper at tape it to my stock. Every range is different so the settings are just to get you close, then you adjust for the day your shooting. the light, the humidity ,time of day everything changes in a small way.
