M1/M1A Semi-Auto Military Rifel Silhouette Match

Post by ppkny »

High Power Semi-Auto Military Rifle Silhouette Match (M1/M1A/Other)
Championship Match - June 15, 2008
Sight-In 8:00 a.m. Match 10:00 a.m.
(2) 40 round matches + special Tres Banditos shoot for prizes
Ridgway Rifle Club (High Power Range)
Grant Rd. Ridgway, PA

This is the last of the three matches being held at Ridgway this year for competitors to try their M1/M1A military rifles at the standard Highpower silhouette targets that are normal shot with scoped bolt action guns.

The match is NRA approved and NRA classification books are required and can be purchased the day of the match. Your NRA Classification can be established prior to the Championship Match by shooting at least one score at either the April or May match. If not, you will be shooting as unclassified and placed in Master Class on that day for the first match and be classified for the second match. This is a recognized event by the NRA and HP silhouette scores will not be considered. The NRA score book for silhouette list this event as High Power Semi-Automatic Military Rifle and that's where the scores need to be shot and recorded. The rule book also states 6MM or larger caliber so if you are concerned that there will be AR's (223)on the line they are not eligible.

The June 15th match is the Championship Match. A club record will be established with High Score and most animals in a row of each animal type with any semi-auto. Additional recognition will be made to the High Score and most animals in a row for each animal type with a M1 Garand.

The distances you will be shooting at are:
Chickens at: 200 Meters
Pigs at: 300 Meters
Turkeys at: 385 Meters
Rams at: 500 Meters

Here's a rough estimation of the clicks up from dead bottom on a M1:
Chickens at: 18-20 clicks
Pigs at: 22-24 clicks
Turkeys at: 27-29 clicks
Rams at: 31-33 clicks

Check out the results and picture from the April 2008 match by visiting the PA Rifle & Pistil Assoc. web site: http://www.pennarifleandpistol.org/ click on newsletter than May/June and go to page 13.

The Ridgway Rifle Club located on Grant Rd. in Ridgway, PA is a premier club that host the NRA National Silhouette Championships in both High Power and Small Bore. The HighPower range, where this event will be held, is to say the least, HUGE. If you have never shot at a 500 Meter range before, this will be an experience not soon forgotten.

This is a chance of a lifetime to test your skills with your M1/M1A at one of the most difficult course of fire you will encounter. Are you up to the challenge. Hope to see you all there.

Please pass this info along to anyone that you think would be interested. Randy can be reached at: RANDY ENT 2103 ROPER HOLLOW RD RUSSELL PA 16345
