Re: 32-20 vs 25-20, reline vs rebore....
I relined my 92 25-20 and now it shoots. My gunsmith preserved the crown by using a deep bore reamer from the breech end. Great job.

What is the cost difference between the two processes?

Do you have a source for the barrel rebore?
I’m thinking of doing this, you can PM me if better.
Thanks, Dennis

Re: 32-20 vs 25-20, reline vs rebore....
I have a Marlin 1894 that had a nasty rusty bore that would rip a patch to shreds and a brush just pushed out endless red dust
I got in touch with Taylor Machine and sent in the barreled action. I kept it as a 25-20 and it will now shoot cast bullets and they go where I tell them to, finally!! He matched the muzzle close enough that it is very hard to tell there is a liner in it, and I doubt it will hurt the value as I'd much rather have a relined rifle that shoots than to have a rifle that needs a bore! I'd do it again if I run across one that is in the same shape.

Re: 32-20 vs 25-20, reline vs rebore....
John Taylor relined my Marlin 1894 38/40 job is perfect. Guess can’t say for sure odds on coming out right better re-line than re-bore.
I had a Remington Marlin 32/20. Accurate & easy to load for, function problems, sold it. Bought original Marlin 1894 25/20 with a good bore It works well and is very accurate. Some like the 25 because it shoots flat, little change in sights critter to critter, although can’t see why that’s important. It is a bit fussy powder wise. I find it difficult to get good burn with 4227 at cast bullet speeds, jacketed bullets difficult to buy. Unique at modest velocity cast bullet it shoots well.
From scratch no limits due what’s available re-lined original Winchester or Marlin 32/20 probably the optional Pistol Caliber Lever Action Rifle. Two to chose from I probably do better with the 25/20 than 38/40, like the 38/40, shoot it often. Still would like to have a rifle in 32/20.
That’s opinion others may see it different.
