Ridgway 2019 BPCR match dates

Post by 45bpcr »

12/19/2018
Hello Folks,

Is everyone ready for Christmas?
Is Santa bringing anyone a new rifle?
I know at least one person who's getting one.

The Ridgway Rifle Club has set the dates for our 2019 matches.

They are as follows.

April 28th.
May 26th.
June 22nd. and 23rd. PA State Championship
July 28th.
August 25th.
September 21st and 22nd. Eastern Regional.
October 27th.

The formats of these shoots will be established at a later date.
I'm going to assume that during the two day shoots that there will be at least one 60 shot match each weekend to allow for the coveted 15 pin.

I told Kevin Burge, the new Match Director, that I'd handle the "internet stuff" for him.
I plan on giving Kevin all the help I can.
Folks can still email me with any questions they may have.
You may have to wait a bit for an answer while I clear it with Kevin.

My apologizes for not putting together the Match results for our October match.
Somewhere between Ridgway , Riverbend down in GA, and NH I lost the results.

Either that or Kidwell stole them. :-)

Those who attended know the wonderful conditions we were blessed with.
It was kinda nice to relax around the wood stove on Saturday though, watching the rain and talking with friends.

I'm looking forward to the 2019 season.
I plan on making Master.
Just like every year before.

I want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Hello Folks,

It looks like winter is finally past us and spring is here.
Hopefully I'll be able to drag some of the warm weather we've been enjoying here in NH down to Ridgway for our first match of the season.

Our 2019 season will kick off April 28th with a 40 shot match.

I'll be there Saturday and Sunday to help our new Match Director Kevin Burge get settled in.
Let's all throw our support behind him.

I'll also try to answer any questions folks may have about the new system the NRA has implemented and will assemble printed information for everyone.

In other news we won't be lying in the dirt, and water when it rains ant longer.
The club has completed pouring cement for the High Power and Small Bore ranges.

If I'd know in advance it would've been a great opportunity to lay in the wet cement and get that "belly groove" just right :-)

I hope to see everyone there.

Hello Folks,

Our May match will be taking place Sunday May 26th.
The range will be open Saturday the 25th for practice.
It will be a 40 shot match for score.
On Sunday the range will be open at 8AM for 40-45 minutes of practice.
There will be a Mandatory shooters meeting at 8:45 and the match will start at 9AM.

Our new Match Director, Kevin Burge is doing a great job
It's a learning curve but Kevin's up for the job.

We should also have the "Velvet Voice" of Sam Marshall calling the line again this year.

We, as shooters, need to help and support these - Gentlemen.
Where would our matches be without them?

It will be a busy weekend at the Ridgway Rilfe Club.
The Lapua Super Shoot will be taking place Saturday and Sunday on the Small Bore range.
If you've never seen shooters hitting little tiny chickens at 25 yds, it's something to see.
They're about the size of a quarter.

Let's send some Thunder down the hill for them shall we?

Hopefully the weather this month will be better than our April match.

Speaking of our April match, here are the scores.
It's not in the customary form and just lists totals.
Excell and my new laptop are having issues.
I did attach a photo of the scoreboard so everyone can see the animal counts

We had a total of 17 competitors, 6 in Iron Sights and 11 in scope.
Saturdays practice was chilly and windy but at least the sun was out.
Sunday it was cold, rainy and foggy.
We also had some pretty strange mirage for such a miserable day.

But, "You can't pick your conditions"

The new cement on the firing line is very nice, we only got wet from the top down.
The club left an area right in front of the new cement for our cross sticks.
The berms have also been graded to eliminate some of the shadows behind the animals.
It's wonderful to see a club plowing it's money back into range improvements to better accommodate the shooters.

The Scores.

Iron Sights

Dave Heeter 24
Craig Duncan 23
John Sweka Jr. 22
Clayton Grove 19
Brian Haffey 15 It was Brian's 1st BPCR match, Good Shooting !!!!
Al Aubin Jr. 14

Scope

Brian Chlison 35 !
Al Aubin Sr. 27
Rich Pauquette 22
Mike Shamonski 20
John Sweka Sr. 20
Jay Brower 19
Gordon Clefton 19
Roger Tremba 19
Ed Heeter 18
Lester Henery 13
Grant Rogers 6

Let's all get together down in PA Memorial Day weekend and tip over some steel.

What better way to celebrate the Holiday and Honor those who have fought for the freedoms we enjoy ?

Craig - am wondering why some dates for 2019 are on the 3rd weekend and some are on the 4th? It would work better if they were all on the 4th weekend so 2-day matches do not interfere with matches at Shippensburg.
