2020 Drue Wands Invitational RESULTS

The Drue Wands Invitational Louisiana Lever Action Rifle Silhouette Championship was held this past weekend at The Fusilier Complex in Arnaudville, Louisiana

Bruce Finley is the 2020 Louisiana Lever Action Rifle Silhouette Grand Aggregate State Champion. Bruce fired a championship score of 104/120 to win his first Louisiana Grand Aggregate Championship.

2019 champion Robert Massey and Larry Weir tied for second place overall at 101/120 with Robert taking the High Senior award by reverse animal count.

In Saturday morning’s Pistol Cartridge Lever Rifle state championship match, Robert Massey won the championship with a score of 37/40. In one of the best shootoffs in the history of the sport, Bruce and Jerry Boydstun fired a sudden death shootoff for 1st place in Master class with neither shooter missing a turkey for 19 shots!! Bruce finally missed the 20th turkey. Jerry hit his 20th turkey with a borrowed rifle as he had run out of ammo for his rifle! Both shooters had fired 35/40 to reach the shootoff.

In the Saturday afternoon Smallbore Lever Rifle state championship match, Chris Cawthorne won the championship with a score of 38/40. Garin Hatch took second with a 36/40 and Larry Weir was third at 35/40.

In Sunday’s Big Bore Lever Rifle state championship match, Bruce and Mark Sternglanz tied for the championship with a score of 37/40. It only took 10 shots to settle this shootoff as Mark won and took the championship.

Our Lady Champion was Joanne Massey with a score of 85/120.

The Chicken Champion was Reese Burnett with 13 of 20 chickens.

The Pig Champion was also Reese Burnett with 17 of 20 pigs.

The Turkey Champion was Emmett Dibble who hit 17 of 20 turkeys and defeated Bruce in a Mexican shootoff to take the prize.

The Ram Champion was Robert Massey with 18 of 20 rams.
