Lever action near Corpus Christi

Post by snaketail2 »

The weather wench says we may get snow again early next week!
I'm a warm weather boy and thinking of spending my retirement years in a warmer place...sorta like Corpus Christi, Texas. But, does anyone shoot Lever Action Silhouette near there?
How far will I need to travel to a match if I move to Corpus?

'Bout had it with cold weather,

They don't even shoot small bore rifle in Corpus Christi anymore. The Houston area is your best bet.

Did they stop fishing there too?
Maybe I need to rethink my "retirement" location.
Jacksonville, Florida is my 2nd choice I know the shoot and fish there.

Thanks,
Michael

Hi, I'm a Winter Texan and have been for the last 8yrs. . My main game is BPCR sil. and I can shoot every week-end if I want. I look for Lever gun matches that are on Sun. so I can do a two fer on the same week-end. CTSA has two matches a month, their are some in Mexia and Austin also.
I have been catching spec's and redfish every day and there is cheep golf too. Life is GOOD here in CC :D John

John - Thank, Id forgotten about the CTSA range near New Branfels.

Happy to hear the reds are running. Ever fish the Bob Hall? Packery channel or the jetties?
My favorite place to fish is Indianola...kind of a ghost town with a fishing dock that serves great burgers and beer. The place is famous for Black Drum and trout. About a hour north of Corpus, south of Port Lavaca - always had a great experience there.

Maybe its time for me to be a Winter Texas too.

MIchael,
You know you are welcome back in FL, still shooting SB in Gateway, Central FL , Chuluota and Hollywood....gearing up for some lever in Gateway as well. We are doing PC and SB lever at Chuluota now. And in N FL Brunswick is not far away.

I spent several wonderful years in Jax...wearing a Navy uniform, fishing the St Johns and the mouth of the river across from Mayport. When I hear - "go to your happy place" that's were I go.

My wife has never been to Jacksonville, or Corpus Christi. I think we should make plans to visit both before deciding where to retire.

Thanks for inviting me back.
