Q: Stock Duplication - Marlin 39A Perch Belly?

Post by chuckjordan2 »

Question: Who has a Marlin 39A Perch Belly stock pattern? Looking for a set (forend/buttstock). I've searched around and nobody seems to have that set. And the kicker is I'd like to use my wood (I have blanks that I bought a decade ago, and would like to use them).

This seems to be a lost art, there are fewer and fewer stockists :-(

I have a friend with a duplicator (I might persuade him for time with it), but, would need a pattern/donor stock....

Try TreeboneCarving. I bought a Bastogne walnut butstock from him for my Rossi. Allot of fitting from the Winchester pattern to the Rossi but it worked well. He has the 39 pattern and many others. Looks like he'll use your wood if needed.

@silo65

already contacted treebone, only he doesn't have the perch belly forend.

BTW, what model rossi do you have? i'd like to find wood for my 24"bbl (with end cap).

The Rossi is a 24" 357. I did not change the forend, just refinished with a Minwax stain and Tru-Oil. It was a close match to the Bastonge buttstock. Why don't you just order the forend with extra wood and shape to your liking.

Check on EBay under Marlin 39A. There are some early 50's stocks listed on there.

@Al - I've been watching eBay, all they have are the buttstocks. I'd like to find a matching set (buttstock & forend).

@Silo65 - On the 24"Bbl Rossi 92, I'd like a set too. The Buttstock is that ugly and if sitting the buttstock, might as well fit a forend too.

There are auctions on EBay right now for a 1952 39A a guy is parting out. He has the butstock and the forearm advertised as matching but they are in separate auctions.
