32-20 Loads
Starting to load for 32-20. Have a few hundred Speer 100 gr bullets. What would anyone's recommendation be for powder and load. Thanks

Re: 32-20 Loads
My Marlin like IMR 4227. Tried unique but 4227 was much better. I shoot 11.0 grains with a 100 grain bullet.

Re: 32-20 Loads
We use a 100 grain xtp bullet and IMR-4198 load straight out of the Lyman manual as being an accuracy load. Both of our guns like this load. I have put scopes on both of our Marlin 1894cl guns and tried slow cast bullets and very fast jacketed bullets. Both guns like a jacketed bullet in the 1100 to 1200 fps range. Very slow lead bullets are fun, but we like the 1200 fps jacketed bullets better. I have older Speer and Hodgdon manuals that list jacketed bullet loads around 1800 fps and one of the loads in the Speer manual is using SR-4759. PM me if you want what I have found.

Re: 32-20 Loads
I use 10.5 grs.of IMR 4227 with a 115 gr.cast bullet from Hunters Supply.When the Post Office doesn't lose them.They go 1406 fps SD is 14 fps ES is 32 fps.
I tried 10 grs of 2400 .They group about an inch at 100 till the barrel leads up.Those smack the chickens up the berm and I got leading. 9 grs of 2400 was OK but still got some leading .

Re: 32-20 Loads
4.0 to 4.5gr of WSF works well for me with 85gr to 110gr Jacketed. No recoil and accurate with plenty of knockdown.

Re: 32-20 Loads
I have been quite happy with a load of 6.8 gr of Blue Dot behind a 117 gr cast moly coated simi wadcutter from Bear Creek Supply in Waterford CA. Velocity is kind of high at 1400 fps, but zero leading and about two and a half inch groups at 100 meters. Thats about as good as I can hold irons with anything.

Re: 32-20 Loads
I use a hornady 100 grain xtp over 17 grains of 2015. this is a compressed load and very accurate. I also use a wolf small pistol magnum primer to a get a good burn. Good luck. The bullet is traveling about 1600 ft per sec.
