Lead-Free .22 ammo

Post by snaketail2 »

Cabelas is advertising that they have Winchester Lead-Free .22 ammo in stock - at sale prices. Two thoughts -(A) nice to see someone advertise they have .22 ammo and (B) has anyone tried lead-free? The box says 26 grain bullet, made of tin, at 1650fps. About $8 a box, marked down from $9.

Anyone tried Lead-Free? Will a fast & light boolit take a ram? Will tin damage the bore? Accuracy? Your thoughts?

A guy fired a couple thousand to test bore damage and found none. But the accuracy was lacking. Let me see if I can find that article....

They've had lead free pellets for a while. I don't think anyone gets great accuracy out of them. YMMV though.... ;)
