I had a 45 colt Marlin Cowboy and I loved the cartridge and the rifle, but it wasn't very accurate. I tried jacketed and cast bullets and could only muster about a 5 inch group with the gun. I have a .357 cowboy and it's a good gun, but still lacks the accuracy I wanted for either PC or big bore. I tried a 22 magnum marlin 1894M and it was VERY accurate, but I didn't get along with it. Jeanne and I shoot a 32-20 in PC loaded with IMR-4198 and a 100 grain XTP bullet. They are both tack drivers . I have a marlin 1894cl in 25-20 that I traded from 40-65 and it's a tack driver. I tried a marlin 38-55 and I am now shooting a Winchester 1894 in 30-30. My wife shoots a 170 grain cast bullet in her marlin xlr-30-30 over some trail boss and she and the gun love the load. Whatever you shoot, have fun with it. Even after a day at the nationals the major question on most of our minds is "What's for supper".
