You can adjust the rear arpeture, been doing that 57 years. Comes a point your eye looses its elasticity and you get a better picture through fuzzy holes.

Ok I went a step further and sent Dennis Willing an email about this. I asked him if the addendum we received with the classification books was the official rule change. Here is his reply. If this isn't clear enough; I give up.
Al,
The intent of the committee was to allow aperture front sights.
Thanks for keeping everyone informed.

Our match director said he never received the addendum. He said whatever the rule book said he would have to follow. Why don't the people at the nra just do their part and fix the online book or put it in the new rule change section.

As Al mentioned, I got the addendum included with our score books for this year so as far as I'm concerned they can be used in our matches.

Re: When does the Rules Committee decide on Arpetures
I also received this info with the scorebooks. My only concern is that it refers to these as "requested changes for 2017". I take that to mean that this is what was being reviewed by the board, not necessarily what was approved.
The NRA website only lists the 2016 rule changes for silhouette, however, the 2017 rule changes for high power rifle have been posted. Why one and not the other?

The 2017 rule change on 3.1.3 has finally been posted at:

No more second guessing.

Jim,
Thanks for digging into this. It seems like we are floating in a boat with no rudder at times.
