marlin 336 cb 38-55

hi folks,
just picked up a marlin in 38-55, looking for load info. bullet weight about 250 gns, dia. .380, and around 1300-1500 fps. please let me know what cast bullet to shoot, and purchase. thanks.......dan

I use a accurate bullet mould, 250g sized to .379" with 15.5g 4227

Shoots brilliantly (for my wife) low recoil and takes every ram she hits. She shot her PB of 37 with it recently.

Meister makes a .381 245 grain flat point that works well. Hunter Supply also makes them in that diameter.

Forgot the powder. 16 to 18 grains of 4227 has got me to this point. It is good and accurate if you have good form and mount rifle the same each time. But I have found the 4227 position sensitivity, that seems to be exaggerated by cool temps, is going to send me down the 4198 path.

I shoot a real nice 1/2 in group w scope of course. hunter's supply 260 gr gas check over 3031 sized .381.

OK... So no answers from the experienced.....

Just put a sight on mine - Same rifle with zero experience.

I am starting with Starline long brass, Hunter Supply 260 lead bullets and 28 gr of IMR 4895.

That should be around 1400 fps, a power factor of ~365 with a good dwell time on the target.....
