Williams rear sight
Just received a new Williams rear sight. Now has directional arrows marked and the clicks seemed more positive. But the Part that you screw the aperture into has some "rocking play" in it. Anyone seen this, or have an idea on impact accuracy?

tighten down the side screw after you set the elevation. this locks the sight down. also tighten some on the elevation lock screw just enough to make the clicks sharp. you can buy a Gib lock target elevation screw for the sight. i use the gib lock on all my williams sights. no movements when locked down.

Chuck, you are right.
There is a problem with the amount of play that is evident on the aperture carrier, which is moved by the windage adjustment. It is evident in some, but not all, of my Williams sights.
Contrary to the responders to your question, I think they must have misconstrued what your predicament is because they ALL suggested that the "Gib Lock Screw" would solve your problem.
Not so: that screw locks the elevation adjustment only, and in fact only replaces a screw that quite adequately prevents movement. It's just a pain to have to carry a screwdriver.
As to a fix: maybe a small piece of brass or Teflon shim between the aperture carrier and the frame. Whichever it is, it will only be a thou' or two.
Better still, maybe Williams will recognise that there is a problem and engineer a proper fix.

I have had the same problem with some of the Williams aperture carrier moving.
I used a feeler gauge to see how much gap there was and shimmed accordingly.
Once the windage has been set,I loc tite (use blue just in case)it in place as I seldom ever have to adjust windage in this game.Just hold off accordingly.
Others have installed set screws but they are machinists.
