Fiocchi Std Vel ?

Post by chuckjordan2 »

I rarely read about Fiocchi .22lr ammo on the forums. Most times it's people writing about the Biathalon ammor.

Below Fiocchi is Standard Velocity (1070fps). Thoughts, experiences?

I understand that each rifle is unto itself as far as accuracy, but, has this ammo passed under the radar or is it that bad?

I'm looking for an alternative (or next step) from CCI SV and/or Aguila SV.

I shoot Fiocchi 320 Match in my Anschutz Super Match 1913. In MY rifle, it is deadly accurate -- consistently under .5" at 100m off the bench. I used to use it indoors as well, but at 50', why burn expensive ammo when CCI SV or Federal 711B is generally as accurate(again in MY rifle) with only a rare flyer? I plan on using it this year for silhouette, replacing Wolf MT/SK Jagd Std Plus.

I bought a case about two years ago. It is the standard velocity CRN22 I believe. I've shot about half of it now and most all has been at 50' indoors. I think it was running roughly $350/case at the time from Champions Choice or Champions Shooter I think. I've shot it mostly in a Izhmash but also in a 1712, Suhl, 10-22, CLE and Schuetzen rifle. It won't function in the CLE/22 and 10-22 whereas Wolf will most of the time, so either it has less power or a different pressure curve. As far as firing, I think all the rounds have gone off and I don't recall any squib rounds. It's hard to tell much about accuracy at 50' so I'm no help there as far as silhouette distances go.
