Hi Folks,

CCI-SV, 100 round slides shoots very well in my Rem 541S. I too have to bump shut the bolt as this ammo has always been a little longer.

Good shooting

Take this for what it is worth but yesterday afternoon while competing in the SBHR class at Nationals I have approximately 5 spent caes fail to extract. It took several energetic (read opening and closing the bolt like a madman) to get the case to extract and eject.

It went bang just fine but the empty case would not come out without a lot of work.

Shoots Just over an inch @ 50 yards in my 1416 HB

Shoots Just barely under 1/2" @ 50 in my 64 MS

Somewhere in between in my MPR.

All are 5 5 shot groups.

all 3 rifles bolt closes difficult, but all the same.

Seems like we've revived this very old thread, but we've discussed this ammo a few times before. It's made specifically to be longer where the bullet engages the rifling to shoot better than a lot of other ammo in non-match chambers that tend to be on the larger side. This makes it too long to shoot well in most true match chambers that are designed for match ammo. That's why it seems to shoot better than some other ammo, especially non-match ammo, in non-match guns and not as well, sometimes not even at all since it won't chamber, in match guns. If you want a non-match gun to shoot a little better, especially compared to most of the usual high velocity and/or bulk pack ammo, then CCI Standard Velocity is likely a good choice for the price. For lots of other situations, it's not.

I have a couple of Marlin 39s with some throat wear and it seem that the CCI Standard having the driving band forward really helps with the accuracy of these rifles. My other 39s with really good barrels will shoot about anything well....

Not really a scientific test result but it convinced me.

I never could get any CCI ammo to group well in any of my rifles. Not even their green box target ammo.

CCI green box is not worth the box it comes in. IMO.

I used CCI SV in my 1712 and it was plenty accurate for me. It had an excess of line on the ammo so I was cleaning my bore at the Range after 20 -30 rounds. The chamber got to the point shells would not extract after firing.

I hope you are using a bore guide made for the 1712. The bore is not centered on the bolt.

They make those things? Not to worry. I ran the rod down the bore from the muzzle.

Bad idea Dave. You are lapping the rifling in an uneven manner and the accuracy will fall off. Buy a bore guide and use it.

Aw hell Jerry, as poorly as I shoot how can it make any difference?

Jerry,

Is this what you are talking about? I use this all the time when cleaning the chamber in my 1712. I use an old single piece handgun cleaning rod with the loop on the handle cut off. I chuck it up in my cordless drill and scrub the chamber clean!

Are you telling me I should this guide all the time? That is not a bad idea.
