More expensive to feed, but worth it.

Reloading at matches

Post by malinois »

I am shooting Bigbore at raton this year and want to load my ammo in the hotel after hours...Will the airlines allow powder and primers to be packed with your clothing seprate from the rifles with a hand press I only have a limited amount of brass so reloading is my only option.

Wow, they won't allow a real bottle of aftershave, so I would say powder and primers would be a no. I'd have someone who is driving out take your reloading components along with them. If you can't hook up with anyone there is a gun shop in town that sells powder and primers. Al

Here you go. If these places can't accommodate you, you'll have to have someone driving out take your powder and primers. Al

Just a note. You cannot ship the powder and primers together and each package will have a $20 surcharge.

PS: If think it's OK and you'll just ship them together and you do and lie on the declaration forms and something happens or you're caught... the fine and jail time are not worth it.

Flying...some airlines push the manufactured labeled ammo and there is an 11 pound limit that some push as well.

So far I am planning on going to the Nationals,
I will be glad to carry powder and primers with me for you to reload.
Call me at home and tell me what you need.

I noticed that you are in Florida...and Evelio is in Houston.

My understanding of shipping loaded ammo by air is that you may ship a maximum of 11 pounds, which is not much. It must be separate from the firearm.

The last I was aware, UPS will not accept primers over the counter from customers. (I had to leave a bad batch with a gun shop for the primer company rep to pick up.) I am not certain about powder, but suspect that you would encounter the same problem.

Shipping loaded ammo by UPS is normally not a problem though. If you have enough brass this might be the simplest option. If the hotel agrees, you could ship it to them in advance or perhaps to the Whittington Center.

Traveling can be a pain.
