RCGS Chargemaster

I just bought one a couple days ago and re-programed the first 3 parameters that Dan wrote about a while back. I didn't have a brass tube so I used a soda straw with great success. It is fast and right on. RCBS has a $75 rebate on all purchases $300 and over so I got mine for $225.00.

Dan was a great source of information.

I only messes with the first 3 parameters. I ended up using a slightly larger number than he did. on all 3 of them.

I was a bit confused on exactly what the numbers did until I read the entire article several times. Make sure you pay attention to where the decimal point is when you enter the numbers.

Thanks Jerry!

Do you use the discharge tube reducing bushing too?

Oh, I see you use the soda straw. Does that work well?

I'm not Jerry but I can assure you that you need some sort of smooth tube where the powder exits. The factory threaded tube leads to powder clumping more and falling out together, which more often takes the powder charge from under to over the target charge weight. A McDonald's straw (cleaned very well) works, but didn't fit quite as firmly as I'd like so I put one wrap of common office tape around it to make it not move in 2+ years.

I have seen and I will locate the person who makes a brass fitting that beats the McDonald's straw....I 'll advise

You have to have the screw threads for the powder to feed but a soda straw about 3 inches or a little less works great for even powder charges. It cuts down on the dribbling that throws the charges over weight.

I checked out the brass tubes at the hobie shop and I would have to buy a 3 footer to get 3 inches. The straw works just fine.

I bought the brass tube for mine on ebay. I think it was 4 bucks and you had to send the guy the inside diameter of your chargemaster, apparently there are different sized tubes. Mine was a tad small so I had to add some 100 mile an hour tape to make it stay in. Throws much better now.

Dan was greatness!

I bought a charge master about a year after they came out and I reprogrammed it per Dans instructions and added a McDonalds straw. Four years later it still runs perfect. No issues. I don't even think about it. It's a great product and worth every penny.
