SILHOUETTE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

DATES: April 9-10, 2016
RANGE: BEN AVERY (BLACK CANYON) SHOOTING FACILITY, 24 miles north of Phoenix on the Carefree Highway, ½ mile west of I-17.
ELIGIBILITY: It is NOT required that you be a member of the NRA or ASR&PA to compete in this event. ASR&PA members will receive a $5.00 discount on entry fees. You must be an NRA member to have any National Record scores recognized.
RULES: All current NRA rules will apply.
COURSE OF FIRE: Match #1 – 40 rounds – Standard Rifle – Saturday Morning April 9
Match #1A – 40 rounds – Hunter Rifle – Saturday Afternoon April 9
Match #2 – 40 rounds – Standard Rifle – Sunday Morning April 10
Match #2A – 40 rounds – Hunter Rifle – Sunday Afternoon April 10
Match #3 – The Arizona State Championship – Aggregate of Matches 1&2
Match #3A- The Arizona State Championship – Aggregate of Matches 1A&2A
TIMES: 0900 hours on Saturday and Sunday. Practice will be from 0700 to 0830 on match days.
PRACTICE: The range will be available for practice on Friday, April 8 from 0700-1700 (5 PM).
ENTRY: Advance entry is required. Advance entries will be accepted until April 2, 2016. Competitors wishing to share rifles and requests for shooter-coach pairs must make advance entry at the same time so that proper squadding can be made. Post entries will be taken to fill vacancies in established relays. NO ENTRIES FOR TWO RIFLES PER SHOOTER WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE RANGE. If you want to shoot standard and hunter class, advance entry MUST be made.
ENTRY LIMITS: Standard Rifle – 96 rifles – 4 relays – 6 banks
Hunter Rifle - 96 rifles – 4 relays – 6 banks
ENTRY FEES: First rifle - $85.00. Second rifle - $25.00. Juniors - $35.00. Junior second rifle - $20.00. Entries received before April 2, 2016 will receive a $10.00 discount on the first rifle. Proof of ASR&PA membership must accompany entry to receive the $5.00 discount.
CLASSIFICATION: 2016 NRA Rifle Silhouette Classification will be used. Classification books must be presented when registering. Those without classification books will be required to purchase one. Beginner shooters without classification will fire their first 40 shots in the highest available class. Resulting scores will establish their classification for the match. Non-US competitors are not required to buy an NRA classification book if they have proof of classification from their National Shooting Federation. Scores posted in their records will be classed according to NRA classification breakdowns.
SCORING: Competitors will keep score. Competitors are required to examine scorecards after each series, and to initial cards before leaving the line. Any scoring differences must be resolved immediately after each five shot series involved and before targets are reset. If a scorecard is not validated, the recorded score will stand and no changes will be made.
JURY: A jury of three persons will be selected and will act as the final authority on protests or disputes concerning procedures, equipment, or other controversies.
EQUIPMENT: Rifles must meet NRA specifications. All rifles will be weighed and certified before the matches. IF ANY PARTS HAVE TO BE TAKES OFF OF A RIFLE TO MAKE WEIGHT, THEY WILL BE HELD IN THE STAT OFFICE UNTIL THE COMPLETION OF THE MATCH. IT WILL BE THE COMPETITOR’S RESPONSIBILITY TO CLAIM THE PARTS AFTER THE MATCH. Non-certified rifles will not be allowed on the firing line. Rifles may be inspected by the jury at any time. Warehouse lifting belts are prohibited unless in compliance with Rule 5.5. Only clothing appropriate for existing weather conditions will be permitted.
AMMUNITION: Provided by the competitor. Only those cartridges allowed by current NRA rules will be allowed. Any cartridge that damages targets will be disallowed.
AWARDS: Awards will be given to Match Winner and classes Master, AAA, AA, A & B in Matches 1&2, 1A&2A. Awards for Matches 3&3A, The Arizona State Championships, will be State Champion, High Arizona Resident, 2nd Place Open, 3rd Place Open, and classes Master, AAA, AA, A & B. In addition, awards for High Super Senior, High Senior, High Woman, and High Junior, Intermediate Junior, and Sub-Junior will be given in Matches 3&3A.
Class awards will be given as follows: 1 place – 2-5 competitors; 2 places – 6-10; 3 places – 11-15; 4 places – 16-20; 5 places – 21 and over per class.
LONG RUNS WILL BE FIRED AT THE END OF THE DAILY MATCH AFTER ANY SHOOT-OFFS. IF YOU WISH TO TRY FOR LONG RUN, NOTIFY THE STAT OFFICE BEFORE THE END OF THE MATCH.
TIES: Daily matches will be decided by reverse animal count, (turkey, ram, chicken, javelina), except for match winner and ties that cannot be decided by reverse animal count, which will be decided by a shoot-off. All ties in the aggregate will be decided by shoot-off. Ties for Special Awards: Super Senior, Senior, Woman and Juniors will be decided by sudden death shoot-off on turkeys. Ties for State Champion will be decided by a five shot shoot-off on turkeys.
SAFETY: All safety rules will be strictly enforced. Failure to comply with safety rules will be basis for disqualification with no return of entry fees. Empty chamber indicators (ECI) are mandatory. (See Rule 3.21)
COACHING: A shooter may have one person with them on the firing line to spot shots, coach, and keep time. The coach may use a spotting scope or binoculars. He may not touch the shooter or their equipment during the firing period and must stay behind the line of shooters. If you are not shooting or coaching, you must remain behind the railing in the ready area.
SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted on the firing line or in the area immediately behind the firing line.

Reminder the AZ State HP matches are this weekend April 9th & 10th. If you are coming and haven't registered yet and are planning to do so when you arrive please send a note to Jim @ irongoataz@cox.net as we will be starting to do the squading later tomorrow. Plenty of room if you want to shoot and for registering when you get here, just looking to make the squading easier.
