More expensive to feed, but worth it.

XP100 vs 700SA...weight

Post by skydiver41 »

Greetings All. Does anyone out there know how the XP100 and 700 SA compare with regard to weight? I don't know much about XP100s but a friend has one for sale and I may base my next project on this action if it compares favorably to the 700. I would also welcome any knowledge or theories on the design of the XP100 and it's pluses/minuses when used in a silhouette rifle application. Thanks in advance.

Before you buy it, pull it out of the stock and take a look at the trigger. I would go with the 700 because there is lots of stuff out there for them and they make up the majority of the guns at the range.

If building a rifle from an XP100 action more than likely the trigger with its linkage will be discarded in favour of a 700 trigger or an aftermarket
Jewell,Shilen or the like. Any of the triggers designed for the 700 will
work in the XP. Speedlocks are also available specifically for the XP.
The only trigger I'm not sure of is the Anschutz/Remington conversion.
All others should fit.
The weight of the two actions should be comparable as the 700SA is
longer but the XP100 is solid bottom.Technically the XP should be stiffer
with it being single shot.
