Hello Fellow Shooters,

The PA State Championship is just ten days away!
I should probably get busy casting bullets and loading ammo.

This year’s match will be held the 23rd and 24th, with 40 shots per day for score.
It’s an NRA sanctioned match as well.

Anyone can win this match but you MUST be a PA resident to be declared the PA State Champion.

The range will be open for practice on Friday the 22nd.

There will be some nice prizes from our generous sponsors as well.

There is RV parking and camping both on the High-power range and the Main Clubhouse with electrical hook-ups. There are showers at the main clubhouse.

Match-Day Info

7:00-8:45 Registration
8:00-8:45 Sight-in
8:45 Mandatory shooters meeting
9:00 Match starts

Shoot is open to NRA and non-NRA members. Current NRA silhouette rules apply. 2017 NRA Silhouette Classification book required and may be purchased at the match. If you're buying a 2017 book, please bring your 2016 book so we can transfer your high scores. Entry fee of $25 per day (Junior Shooters $10).

We hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
Craig Duncan

2017 BPCR Silhouette PA State Championship

My apology’s in taking so long to get the results from the PA State
Championship together.

It’s been a busy Autumn.

We had 34 shooters and 36 rifles on the line at Ridgway this month.
Two were first timers to the BPCR Silhouette sport and two were
retuning shooters who’ve been away from Ridgway for a while.

I trust you gentlemen enjoyed yourselves and hope your “hooked” and
planning on returning in the future.

The weather was beautiful, warm days and cool nights with temps. in
the mid 80’s during the day. Pretty warm for Ridgway at the end of
September. It did lead to some strange mirage though.
The stellar weather allowed several shooters to up-class.

John Bly made Master.

John Sweka Jr. made AAA
.
Our youngest shooter Joe Hemm went from B to AA
.
It was good to see our friends from Michigan. Watch out for these guys
if you ever have to shoot against them. They might be flat landers but
they’re a good bunch.

Match Results are posted below.

I’d like to thank our sponsor’s and competitors for thier generous donations to our sport.

A special thanks to Sam Marshall (nuclear cricket) for calling the line

All the folks who helped to clean up after the match
All of the folks who attended and helped with all the little
incidentals of running a match, right down to making coffee in the morning.
Thanks Grant and Rich.

It’s the competitors that make our sport what it is. They’re the folks
who show up, pay their money to shoot and then work to make it a
better experience for everyone involved.

Hello Folks,

Autumn is in full swing here in NH.
Hunting season is here for most or fast approaching.

Our final Silhouette match of the season will be on Sunday the 22nd.
I’m looking forward to one more chance to shoot with friends before the season ends and winter sets in.

This will be a standard 40 shot match.
As always, the range will be open for practice the Saturday before.

Match-Day Info
7:30-8:45 Registration
8:00-8:45 Sight-in
8:45 Mandatory shooters meeting
9:00 Match starts

Shoot is open to NRA and non-NRA members. Current NRA silhouette rules apply. 2017 NRA Silhouette Classification book required and may be purchased at the match. Entry fee of $25 per day (Junior Shooters $10).
Coffee and donuts will be available, but bring your lunch.

With the 2017 shooting season drawing to a close, I’ve been thinking about the 2018 season.

Folks, we are fortunate.

As competitors, we have a plethora of matches we can choose to attend.

From coast to coast, From the north to the south.

We also have many matches that conflict with one another.

There's much chatter about declining attendance, with some matches being discontinued because of lack of attendance.

How do we fix this?

Think about it from a younger persons view point.
You have a wife, husband, children you work hard to take car of.
You enjoy the shooting sports and search for a venue that you enjoy.
You have a finite amount of time and money to devote to your chosen sport.
You bought a BPCR rifle that you've lusted for and want to shoot it - competitively.

Where to you find clear, concise information about events to attend?

As Shooters and probably more important as Match Directors, we need to figure out a way to publicize these matches and list them.
It needs to be on a free and accessible form of media, be it print or electronic.

Competitors need to budget money and time to attend events.
Rifle ranges and Match Directors need to plan range use and competitor accommodations.

I’m looking for input about this from fellow Shooters and Match Directors.

Feel free to contact me with and questions, concerns or ideas you may have.

See you at Ridgway

Yours Truly,

We had a great match last weekend with 23 shooters in attendance.
The weather was phenomenal with little wind and warm sunshine.

Dave Heeter won Iron Sights shooting a score of 32.
Shaun Letham took second with a score of 31 and yours truly place third with a 30.

In Scope, Brian Chilson won shooting a 30
Rich Paquette had a great day taking second with a 28.
Rich McKinnes shot a 28 as well but didn’t do so well on chickens

We had two new shooters and one returning shooter.
Shawn and Mark, welcome back and welcome to. You didn’t write down your scores but you both left smiling.

Jordan Paquette shot his first match with a 21. He also put lead on Homer AND the small swinger next to Homer. For those not familiar with Ridgway, Homer is a ½ scale buffalo at 980 yards.

Complete results are listed below.

We had a good year at Ridgway. It seemed like all our matches were blessed with sunny weather. We didn’t break any National Records but there were some very good scores and everyone had fun. We had quite a few new shooters in attendance this year. It seemed as though there were one or two at every match.

I’d like to say “Thanks” to everyone who helped make our season a success. There’s always quite a bit of work to put on a match and it’s wonderful to have the help.

Our Match dates for 2018 have been submitted to the club and are approved. I’ll make sure to get them out soon so folks can start planning for next year.
On that note I want to get together with other match directors in the area and try to coordinate our schedules. I think it would be great if we could list all our matches in one place so competitors could see them and make an informed decision as to which ones they wish to attend. Please feel free to contact me with any thoughts you may have on this.

I hope everyone has a good winter and we'll see you next year.
